FRAMES PROJECT

JOSE CANTU
ALEJANDRO ALMANZA PEREDA

Alejandro Almanza Pereda was born in 1977 in Mexico City. Searching out vintage objects
in flea markets and thrift stores, Almanza Pereda integrates mundane materials into large-
scale sculptures that challenge both the durability of the objects and his ability to create a
stable structure.
STRUCTURAL FRAME: IT IS CONCERNED WITH IDENTIFYING AND
INTERPRETING HOW ARTISTS USE SIGNS AND SYMBOLS IN THEIR
ARTWORKS.
An apple and a pear sit on opposite sides of a
cinderblock, suspended in midair. The apple, on the
underside of the block is curiously static, as if
floating which, in fact, it is. This photo looks very
neat and it would look good in a household. I
would say it has a cultural vibe to it like a fancy/
modern feeling to it.
SUBJECTIVE FRAME: THIS VIEW IS CONCERNED WITH EXAMINING AN ARTWORK
FROM A PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE. THIS MIGHT INVOLVE RELATING YOUR OWN
THOUGHTS, MEMORIES, FEELINGS, OPINIONS AND JUDGMENTS TO AN ARTWORK.

This photograph looks very crafty like because I see

there's these sticks going into these circular things making
it stay intact. This photo was taken under water so I'm
surprised it hasn’t fallen apart. This photo makes me go
back to my child hood because the pieces in this photo
remind me of Tinker toys.
CULTURAL FRAME: IT IS THE SOCIAL MEANING OF THE
ARTWORK, POLITICS, RACE, CULTURAL IDENTITY, GENDER,
BELIEFS, AND VALUES.

This Photo feels very upper class and fancy because the
beautiful vase. I would say this really doesn’t have a political
stands behind it besides the vase looking very neat and clean.
It really doesn't have a identity behind it and theirs no signs
to prove who it’s made for.
POST MODERN: A WAY OF STUDYING ART WHERE THE
ARTIST BORROWS AND IDEA OR IMAGE AND PUTS IT IN
A NEW CONTEXT TO GIVE NEW MEANING.

This photo looks like it’s outside the mainstream because the photo
looks sinister. It looks out of place and the materials in this photo are
unusual. This photo looks like it was very hard to put together.
