Philippines (State and Nation)

The document discusses the concepts of nation and state. A nation is a large group of people who share an identity and desire to belong together, while a state is the political and administrative organization that governs a territory. The Philippines can be considered a territorial nation rather than an ethnic one, as it is composed of various ethnic groups across its geographic regions rather than a single ethnic identity. During colonization and independence, the boundaries of newly formed nation-states did not always align with pre-existing ethnic identities and groups within their territories.
