Hardware Components of BBU3910
 11 card slots, flexible replacement and easy evolution
 High integration and capacity, 2 U high, Max: UL/DL 6144 CEs
 The UMTS CPRI cable can be connected to any slot.
 The BBU3910 must be installed in the Ver.D cabinet and supports the
boards as follows: UMPT, UBBP.UPEU,UEIU.

BBU3910
 The BBU3910 is an indoor BTS control unit that enables interaction
between the BTS and the RNC.
 The BBU3910 performs the following functions:
 Provides physical interfaces between the BTS and the BSC for
interaction.
 Provides CPRI ports for communication with the RRU.
 Provides the USB port for downloading the BTS software.
 Provides OM channels for connection to the LMT (or M2000).
 Processes UL and DL data.
 Provides centralized management on the entire DBS system, such as
OM and signaling processing.
 Provides the reference clock for the entire system.

DBS3900
 The DBS3900 consists of the BBU3910 and the RRU.
 The BBU3910 is baseband unit. It provides physical interfaces for connection
with the RNC and RRU. It performs centralized management (OM and
signaling processing) of the entire base station system and provides reference
clock for the system.
 The RRU is an outdoor remote RF unit. It processes baseband signals and RF
signals.
 The Local Maintenance Terminal (LMT) and Man-Machine Interactive (MMI)
can implement the maintenance of the DBS3900 through the BBU3910.

UMPT Specifications
 Transport interface: 1 electrical FE/GE, 1 optical FE/GE
 The maximum configuration of UMPT is 2 and the minimum
configuration is 1.
 Support for cold backup and services are interrupted for about 2
minutes when one UMPT is faulty.

UMPT Function
A UMPT performs the following functions:
 Manages configurations and devices, monitors performance, and
processes signaling of a base station.
 Processes signaling and manages resources for other boards in the BBU.
 Provides a USB port, transmission ports, and a maintenance port, which
are used for automatic software upgrade, signal transmission, and LMT- or
U2000-based BBU maintenance.

UBBP Specifications
This section describes specifications of UBBP boards, such as
carrier specifications, baseband specifications, cell specifications,
maximum number of UEs in RRC connected mode, throughput
specifications, and signaling specifications. If an item reaches the
specified threshold, replace existing boards or add new boards to
expand capacity

UBBP Function
A UBBP performs the following functions:
 Provides CPRI ports for communication with RF modules.
 Processes uplink and downlink baseband signals.
 Supports the multiplex of baseband resources among different
modes, thereby implementing multimode concurrency

UPEU Specifications
UPEU boards perform the following functions:
 A UPEUa, UPEUc, or UPEUd converts -48 V DC input power into +12 V
DC power.
 A UPEUb converts +24 V DC input power into +12 V DC power.
 A UPEU provides two ports with each transmitting one RS485 signal and
two ports with each transmitting four Boolean signals. The Boolean signals
can only be dry contact or open collector (OC) signals

Fan Specifications
 A FAN performs the following functions:
 It dissipates heat from other boards in the BBU.]
 It controls the speed of fans, monitors the temperature of fans, and reports
the status, temperature and in-position signals of fans.

RRU Specifications
This section describes technical specifications of an RRU, including supported
modes, frequency bands, RF specifications, engineering specifications, and
antenna capabilities.
An RRU3959/RRU3959w is a multimode remote radio unit. Adopting the
software-defined radio (SDR) technology, RRU3959/RRU3959w modules can
work in different modes with different configurations.

RRU Function
A RRU performs the following functions:
 The Remote Radio Unit (RRU) consists of the high-speed interface unit, signal
processing unit, power amplifier, duplexer, extension ports, and power module.
 Receives downlink baseband data from the BBU and sends uplink baseband
data to the BBU.
 Receives RF signals from the antenna system, down-converts the signals to
intermediate frequency (IF) signals, amplifies the IF signals, performs analog-to-
digital conversion, and up-converts RF signals to the transmit (TX) band.
 When an RRU is equiped with an AC/DC power module, the RRU and the
power module togther are called an AC RRU.
