History of The Computer

COMPUTER
The history of computers starts out about
2000 years ago in Babylonia
(Mesopotamia), at the birth of the
abacus, a wooden rack holding two
horizontal wires with beads strung on
them. Blaise Pascal is usually credited for
building the first digital computer in 1642.
The computer as we know it
today had its beginning with a
19th century English
mathematics professor name
Charles Babbage. ... Other
developments continued until
in 1946 the first general–
purpose digital computer, the
Electronic Numerical Integrator
and Computer (ENIAC) was
built.
WHAT IS COMPUTER?
CharlesBabbage- KH FRS
(/ˈbæbɪdʒ/; 26 December 1791 – 18
October 1871) was an English
polymath.[1] A mathematician,
philosopher, inventor and
mechanical engineer, Babbage
originated the concept of a digital
programmable computer.
Alan Mathison Turing- OBE FRS (/ˈtjʊərɪŋ/;
23 June 1912 – 7 June 1954) was an English
mathematician, computer scientist,
logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher and
theoretical biologist.
Douglas Carl Engelbart- (January 30, 1925 – July 2,
2013) was an American engineer and inventor, and
an early computer and Internet pioneer. He is best
known for his work on founding the field of human–
computer interaction, particularly while at his
Augmentation Research Center Lab in SRI
International, which resulted in creation of the
computer mouse, and the development of
hypertext, networked computers, and precursors to
graphical user interfaces.
