Santhu Introduction

Nature has gifted humans water, which is essential for survival. While the Earth's surface is mostly water, only 3% is freshwater and available for human use. Water pollution and conflicts over access to water resources pose major threats. Water pollution is a leading cause of death globally and water conflicts occur at local, national, and international levels. To address this, water conservation efforts like fixing leaks, harvesting rainwater, and reducing industrial pollution are needed. Cooperation between public and government is important to preserve this vital resource.

INTRODUCTION

Nature has gifted us some precious and valuable resources and water is one
of them and is our basic need. All living beings need water for their survival
and to carry out their survival and to carry out their vital life processes. Our
Planet, Earth, has three –fourths of its surface area covered with water and
only one- fourth has land masses. Life originates in water. Even today,
millions of year later, water continues to be an essential requirement of life.
Amongst most of the water, 97% is found in oceans and seas. The
remaining, about 3% is found in rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, etc. Air also
contains water.
All plants, animals and human beings need water to stay alive. But human
beings depend on water more than plants and animals. We need water for
many other purposes such as
We need water for the day -to- day activities such as bathing, cleaning,
drinking, washing, etc.
WHY WATER CONSERVATION SITUATION

 Today the earth is in the need of water conservation as the quality

of the water is going down day by day .
 Through we say that the earth is blue planet, the reality is that
only 3% of total water available fit for drinking.
 Out of that 3% also , 2.997% is looked up in polar ice caps, and
only 0.003% is there in the in the surface & ground water.
 The rate is still declining and the reason is…..
THE REASON :

 WATER POLLUTION

Water pollution is a major global problem which

requires ongoing evaluation and revision of water resource
policy at all levels. It has been suggested that it is the
leading worldwide cause of deaths and diseases, and that
it accounts for the deaths of more than 14,000 people
daily.
CONFLICTS OVER WATER
 Water conflict is a term describing a conflict between
countries, states, or groups over an access to water resources.

LEVELS OF CONFLICT:

1. LOCAL LEVEL :
Example: between villages or streets or houses

2. NATIONAL LEVEL :
Example: Cauvery river – between Karnataka and Tamil nadu

3. INTERNATIONAL LEVEL:
EXAMPLE: Jordan river water conflict between Sudan, Egypt
and Ethiopia.
 Human life is not possible without water . Water is the source of life but we
humans fail to recognize its importance.
 Earth is covered by 71%of water and 29% of land. But only 2.5% is fresh
water, most of it is trapped in glaciers and snowfield. Only 0.007% water is
drinkable out of all water available out of all water available on the earth.
 Drinkable water is a scarce resource. We can save water with simple
solution. We should fix water leakages. We can save a lot of precious water
by doing this.
 Instead of a bathroom shower. We can use bucket and mug. We should not
keep the tap running while brushing teeth.
 Most of the country receives rain in monsoon. We need to conserve this
valuable water. We should use rainwater harvesting to save water.
 The government should use good pipelines which will not break or leak. We
should have water meters fixed to pipelines so that we use water wisely. We
should not pollute the rivers and lakes. Industries should not drain its
poisonous waste in river. Public and government need to work together to
save the water
