Region 2, also known as Cagayan Valley, is located in northern Luzon. It has a total land area of 2,826,520 hectares and consists of 5 provinces and 4 cities. The climate is Type III and dialects include Ilokano, Ybanag, Ytawes, Irraya, Ivatan, Gaddang, and Tagalog. Foreign tourist arrivals increased significantly in 2013, with most visitors coming from China. Each province in the region celebrates unique festivals showcasing their local culture and traditions. *The Department of Tourism office in Tuguegarao City said
foreign tourists arrivals in Cagayan Valley increased by 625
percent year-on-year in 2013, with Chinese topping the list
of visitors. Blessida Diwa, DOT director for Region 2, said
91,974 recorded foreign tourists visited the region’s tourism
destinations or an increase of 625 percent from 12,694 in
2012. Based on records, Chinese arrivals remained the
biggest with 78,386 followed by Americans with 20,514.
Travellers from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, United
Kingdom, Canada, India and Germany also flocked to the
fine beaches in Santa Ana town and the Callao Caves in
Peñablanca town, both located in Cagayan province.

call it Marlboro Hills. The sceneries
were really beautiful. Take lots of

church and convent. In 1989 - the 250th
anniversary of the first Mass in Bayombong -
the rebuilt cathedral was dedicated.
