UNIT4 Uniformly Accelerated Motion
UNIT4 Uniformly Accelerated Motion
Given
a=5.50 m/s² t=20.25 s Vi=0m/s²
Solution
Formula: d=Vi t+ ½ (a)(t) ²
d=(0)(20.25s)+1/2(5.50m/s²)(20.25s) ²
= (0) + ½ (5.50m/s²)(410.06s)
= ½ (2255.33)
= 1127.67 m
Uniformly Accelerated Motion:
Vertical Dimension
Gravity acts on all objects.So on Earth,all objects
being thrown up,will go down.Things thrown upward
always fall at a constant acceleration which has a
magnitude of 9.8m/s².This means that the velocity of
an object in a free fall changes by 9.8 m/s² every
second of fall.
When an object is thrown upward,as the object goes
up,it decelerates with a magnitude of 9.8m/s² until it
stops momentarily(its velocity will be 0m/s²) & changes direction
SAMPLE PROBLEM
1)Zed is playing with a ball on top of a building but
the ball fell and hit the ground after 2.6 seconds,
what is the final velocity of the ball just before it
hits the ground and how high is the building?
Given:
Ag=9.8 m/s ² Assume Vi=0m/s t=2.6 s
SOLUTION
For velocity For distance
R A N G E
Projectiles thrown with the same speed at
different projection angle will have different
altitudes and ranges
-The maximum range obtained is a 45⁰
-in the Presence of air resistance, the trajectory of a high
speed projectile falls short of a parabolic path
