Solar Powered Automated Irrigation Syste

The document presents a solar powered auto irrigation system designed by four students - Ashutosh A.Budharam, Rohit Nitin Gavali, Ravina Ramesh Kamble, and Purva Ashok Chavan. The system uses solar power to automatically irrigate crops based on moisture sensor readings and can be controlled remotely by phone. It aims to optimize water usage, reduce waste, and minimize human intervention for farmers through its automatic operation powered by solar energy.

Introduction
Cost effective solar power can be the answer for all our energy needs.

Solar powered smart irrigation systems are the answer to the Indian farmer. This
system consists of solar powered water pump along with an automatic water
flow control using a moisture sensor. Based on the water level, a farmer can
control the motor by sending a message from his cellular phone even from a
remote place. However, if the water level reaches to the danger level; the motor
will automatically start without confirmation of farmer to ensure the proper
water level in the site.

Objective and Scope
 The aim of this project is to find a good solution to optimize
the usage of water by reducing wastage and reduce the
human intervention for farmers.
 The advantage of solar powered auto irrigation system
Financing and cost of solar panels continue to drop, making
SPIS economically viable and competitive with other sources
of energy.
 Develop a solar powered automated irrigation system with
microcontroller as the brain of the control system.
 The overall purpose is to overcome the necessity of
electricity and ease the irrigation system for our farmers, the
propose model can be a suitable alternative also to help the
people the life cost by reduce the electric cost.

5
Advantages
 Sensors used have high sensitivity and are easy
to handle.
 Low cost system, providing maximum
automation.
 Low maintenance and low power consumption
 The system is more compact as compared to
existing ones, hence it is easily portable.
 Labour saving.

6
Disadvantages
 Requires uninterrupted power supply.
 No self-test system to detect the malfunction of
sensors.
 Facility to remotely monitor the greenhouse is
not possible.
 Lack of groundwater management

7
Application
 Agriculture livestock watering / crop irrigation,
home gardens and drip irrigation system.
 Domestic water portable for remote homes,
campgrounds.
 Pond water management and water transfer.
 Water supply for villages in developing world.
 Equivalent voltage this is given to sensing circuit
which has a reference voltage that can be adjusted
by the farmer for setting different moisture levels
for different crops.

8
Conclusion
By using the automatic irrigation system it optimizes
the usage of water by reducing wastage and reduces the
human intervention for farmers. . Even though there is a high
capital investment required for this system to be
implemented, the overall benefits are high and in long run
this system is economical.
