Transfer of Learning

Transfer of learning refers to the ability to apply knowledge learned in one context to new contexts. There are different types of transfer including lateral, vertical, specific, and general transfer. Lateral transfer occurs when a skill is applied to a similar task at the same level of complexity, while vertical transfer allows application of skills to more advanced levels of complexity. Specific transfer involves directly applying a specific skill to similar situations, whereas general transfer uses broader principles in dissimilar situations.
