• The IGCSE program runs for 2 years at the end of which the
students sit for the exam conducted by UCLES (University of
Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate)

subject groups together with

• Three subjects are studied at STANDARD LEVEL

• The three core requirements are:

At the end of the two-year programme, students are assessed both


internally and externally in ways that measure individual
performance against stated objectives for each subject.

• University admissions officers and government officials have

The Central Board of Secondary Education
- An Overview

CBSE has 20,299 schools in India and 220 schools in


25 foreign countries

 It offers five core subjects in Class IX & X

 Access and accommodation for students with special needs


CBSE CURRICULUM
 Board Examination at the end of Class X at an external centre

 Board Question Papers set & examined externally

 80% weightage to Board examinations


 20% weightage to Internal Assessments-
[Periodic Tests/Multiple assessments/ Portfolio/ Subject Enrichment]

 School based Assessment in Class IX

 Complete course will be assessed at the end of Class IX

 For the purpose of promotion, a student is required to get a
qualifying percentage of 40 in all the five subjects in class IX

There will be one chance for improvement in a retest for those who
do not qualify for promotion
CBSE – Senior Secondary [Classes XI- XII]
• Five elective subjects in Class XI & XII
• English Core is compulsory
• 20 subjects offered in four bands at SBS
• Students could choose pure combinations or a mixed bag across
streams
• Aptitude tests will be held in Class X and individual counseling
sessions will be held with all parents/students
• Career counselling
• Criteria for certain subjects will be shared in Class X
