Conditionals V 2

Conditional sentences are composed of two clauses: an if-clause and a main clause. There are three types of conditional sentences. A zero conditional uses present tense in both clauses to describe universal truths. A first conditional uses a present tense if-clause and future tense in the main clause to describe possible future events. A second conditional uses a past tense if-clause and "would" in the main clause to describe unlikely or imaginary situations. Conditional sentences express that the action in the main clause can only occur if the condition in the if-clause is fulfilled.

Conditional Sentences

Conditional Sentences
Structure :
A conditional sentence is composed of 2 parts :

If-clause + Main Clause

Example :

If-clause Main Clause

Conditional Sentences

 Conditional sentences are used to express that

the action in the main clause can only take place
if a certain condition (if-clause) is fulfilled.
The order of the two clauses is flexible, it’s not

important.
But if the if-clause comes first, it must be

followed by
a comma.
If it rains, I’ll stay at home.
I’ll stay home if it rains.
