Energy losses through pipes

When the fluid is flowing through the pipe, some


energy is lost to overcome hydraulic resistance
(friction). This loss of energy is classified as follows.
• Major Losses:

The major loss of energy is due to friction. It is


determine by Darcy-Weisbach formula or Chezy
formula.

• Minor Losses:

The losses due to disturbance in the flow
