The Student Charter -
your responsibilities
• You are expected to undertake independent study for all
modules; (a 15 credit module is equivalent to 150 hours of
study, of which a maximum of 33 hours happens in the
classroom).

• You should not talk (unless discussion is requested) during

lectures.

• You should only use computers or mobile phones during

teaching sessions for work-related purposes.

• You should come to class prepared to listen, take notes and ask
and answer questions.

• You must do any pre-reading that is assigned prior to a session.

The Student Charter -
your responsibilities
• You should arrive for class on time and should email a teacher to
explain an absence in advance or within 24 hours of the session.

• Freeriding in groups is not fair – you should do their fair share of

the work – otherwise your peer group is entitled to identify your
lack of effort.

• If you have to miss a session, you should email your teacher to

explain the absence either in advance or within 24 hours of the
session

• You must make an appointment with your academic advisor at

least once a year – why – you will need a reference!

• Check University email at least once a day during term time. Not
reading an email is not an excuse for missing a deadline.
Where to go to
get help
• Your tutors

• The module handbook

• Canvas

• Your Academic Advisor

• Where else?? Any ideas????
