Original and Founding of OIC

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the second largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations. It was formed in 1969 in response to arson attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The OIC aims to safeguard Muslims, strengthen Islamic solidarity, support Palestinian independence, and eliminate racism and colonialism. It is led by the Islamic Summit which meets every three years and the Council of Foreign Ministers which meets annually. The OIC also operates specialized institutions focused on banking, research, education, and trade.

Original and founding of OIC

• Second largest organization after united nation organization.

• Oic formed after the 1969 Arab –Israel war .Leader of Muslims met in

Rabat to establish oic 25 September ,1969.

Formed in response to fire rising attack on mosque al Aqsa in Jerusalem by

Zionist extremist.
• Two revolutionary processes

• Nationalist and Islamic .

• Nationalistic (1950s)and Islamic (1970s)


Goals of OIC

• To safeguard people of the member state and Muslims.

• Strengthen Islamic solidarity.

• Consolidate cooperation among Muslim state in socil,culture,and scientific field.

• Safeguard of holy places.

• Support of the struggle of Palestinian people .

• Eliminate a racial discrimination and form of colonism.


Structure of OIC
 Main organs

• Islamic submit : the Islamic summit composed of kings and head of the state and government

of the members states and its supreme authority of the organization.

• Conference held to consider issues of critical importance of the muslim world and formulate

policies on which the implemented the organization.

• Islamic summit shall convene every three years one of the member state.

 Council of foreign ministers

• held convene once in a year in one of the member of the state.

• Reviewing progress of the implementation of decision and resolution adopted of the previous
General secretariat
• General secetiate shall be the chief administrative officer of the organization.

• General secretariat shall be elected by council of foreign ministers for five year .

• Secretary general shall be elected from among the national of the members state
Specialized institution
• Islamic bank

• Research center of Islamic history art and culture.

• Islamic university of technology

• Islamic center for trade development.

• International Islamic fiqh academy.
