What is “evaluation”?
• Evaluation is an assessment of the value of an activity as
measured
by its success or failure in achieving a predetermined set of
goals or
objectives. By this definition, a wide-range of analysis
procedures may
be labeled as evaluation .

• In transportation, Evaluation deals specifically with assessing


the value of ongoing and completed transportation safety
projects and programs which resu1t from the transportation
Safety Improvement needed.
