Create ICT Derivative (Excel)

The document provides instructions on using basic formulas and conditional functions in Microsoft Excel. It defines common Excel terminology like cells, ranges, criteria, and functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, IF, COUNT, and COUNTIF. It then gives step-by-step examples of how to use these functions to calculate product costs, analyze survey results, and determine if a product or service is profitable. Learners are assigned individual activities to practice these skills by creating a product information sheet and profitability analysis in Excel.

Conditional Functions
Basic Formula
Terminologies:
• Cell – is known to be the intersection between a row and a column
• Sum – a function that adds a range of cells.
• Average – a function in excel to use in getting the average of a range of
cell.
• Range – the range of cells where you want to look for the criteria. Range
can contain numbers, arrays, a named range, or references that contain
numbers.
• Criteria - a value or label that determines if a cell is part of the range to
be averaged. It contains a number, expression, cell reference, or text
string that determine which cells will be counted.
• Condition – It is the label that determines the range to be tested.
Terminologies:
• IF function – a function that allows us to check whether the condition is met.
• Value – It is the label or content data.
• Count – a function used to count the cells with content in a range.
• COUNTIF – a function used to count the cells with specified content within a
range.
• SUMIF – a function used to compute for the summation of a range if a certain
condition is met.
• AVERAGEIF – a function used to compute for the average of a range if a
certain condition is met.
• Average Range – the actual range of cells that will be averaged, if omitted,
the range will be used instead.
Microsoft Excel

• is a spreadsheet program included in Microsoft

Office suite of applications. Spreadsheets will
provide you with the values arranged in rows and
columns that can be changed mathematically using
both basic and complex arithmetic operations. It is
also designed to create spreadsheets which can later
be use to analyze statistical data.

How EXCEL Works?
Steps in Estimating the Product Cost in MS
Excel
1. Use the SUM formula to get the summation of the values from C4 to C7.
The SUM formula is =SUM(C4:C7)
2. Check of the estimated price will earn us profit.
Let us apply the arithmetic formula for subtraction.
3. The result is 2.20. Our estimated price is not profitable. Let us make an
adjustment. Add an adjusted sale price and deduct the total from the new sale price.

4. The result is 7.80. This is definitely profitable at this price.

• Raw Survey Results of Starbuko Milk Tea Survey

Individual Activity:

• Try to come up with your own product or services

which you can sell or offer inside the campus.
Encode the data using MS Excel then use the formula
you have learned to determine if your product or
service was profitable or not. It can be sweets like polvoron
or yema, small souvenirs like keychains or bag tags, or services like
foot spa or harana (serenade) for hire.

• Use the information below:

On a sheet of paper, fill out the information of your product. Use the information sheet
below:

• It is now time for you to collect data from your target market. Then
come up with a survey that will help you determine how your sample
from your target market would perceive your product. Analyze and
enter the required data for the Survey Form below:
