We know and rely on the

HABIT #1
ACCEPTING AND
ABIDING IN GOD’S
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
IT STARTS
WITH
WHAT’S
INSIDE OF US
We cannot give to
others love, peace,
hope, or security if we
ourselves have not
received it first. (Blanchard,
Hodges, & Hendry p. 93)
Believing that it is
possible for God to love
you will lead you to God –
and God enables us to
believe in his love the son
Jesus’ death on the cross
and the Holy Spirit’s work
in our hearts.
(Blanchard, Hodges, & Hendry p. 90)
GOD KNOWS YOU. GOD LOVES
YOU.
GOD PROMISES YOU THE
• _____, I know you by name.
FOLLOWING:
• _____, I have loved you with an everlasting
love.
• _____, I gave my life for you.
• _____, I have great plans for you.
• _____, nothing can separate you from my
love.
• _____, I will wipe away every tear from your
eyes.
• _____, ask and you will receive.
• _____, I want you to have life and have it to
the full. Blanchard, Hodges, & Hendry p. 92
• _____, I take great delight in you.
• _____, I am with you wherever you go.
The answer is this:
God’s love will
change you and by
extension change
your leadership.
HABIT #2
SOLITUDE
SOLITUDE IS STEPPING OUT THE
BACK DOOR OF YOUR NOISY LIFE
OF TO-DO LISTS AND
DEMANDING RELATIONSHIPS AND
BREATHING IN SOME FRESH AIR.
Solitude will:
1. Reveal how you’re really doing.
2. Helps you discover what is most
meaningful and importance. The
unexamined life is not worth living
(Socrates).
3. Give you insight into your character.
4. Gives you energy.
5. Let you actually hear from God.
6. Establish priorities: solitude
accelerates clarity.
7. Restores your soul: If you have lost
your soul. Solitude will help you find
it.
JESUS MODEL
OF SOLITUDE
• Matthew 4:1-11 When preparing for the
rest of His public ministry, Jesus spent
40 days alone in the desert.
• Luke 6:12-13 Before Jesus chose His
twelve apostles from among his
followers, He spent the entire night
alone in the desert hills.
• Matthew 14:13 When Jesus received the
news of the death of John the Baptist,
He withdrew in a boat to a solitary
place.
• Matthew 14:23 After the miraculous
feeding of the five thousands, Jesus
went up the hill by himself.
"Time spent alone returns to you a hundredfold because it is the
proving ground of the spirit. . . .
"Loneliness is small; solitude is large. Loneliness closes in around
you; solitude expands toward the infinite. Loneliness has its roots
in words, in an internal conversation that nobody answers; solitude
has its roots in the great silence of eternity. . . .
"In solitude silence becomes a symphony. Time changes from
a series of moments strung together into a seamless motion riding
on the rhythms of the stars. Loneliness is banished, solitude is in
full flower, and we are one with the pulse of life and the flow of
time. . . .
"As always, look at the world around you. The mountain is
not restless in its aloneness. The hawk tracing circles in
the sky is not longing for union with the sun. They exist in
the perfect peace of an eternal present, and that is the
peace that one finds only in solitude. Find this peace in
yourself, and you will never know another moment of
loneliness in your life."

10 愿您的天国降临,
愿您的旨意,
就像在天上一样,
在地上也得以实现。
11 请赐给我们日常需要的食物,

READING/READING
• By reading God’s scripture, you can
come to know God’s ways, the heart of
God, who God is.
• What if I’m not a Christian?
• Read the Psalms and Proverbs: there
is great wisdom in those books; much
can be learned.

AND A POSTURE
When someone invites you to a
wedding feast do not take the
HEAD- place of honor, for a person more
TABLE distinguished than you may have
been invited. If so, the host who
MENTALITY invited both of you will come and
say to you “Give this man your
seat.” Then humiliated, you will
have to take the least important
place.
But when you are invited, take
the lowest place, so that when
your host comes, he will say to
you, “Friend move up to a better
place.” Then you will be honored
in the presence of all your fellow
guests.
For everyone who exalts
himself will be humbled, and
he who humbles himself will
be exalted.

7 PRINCIPLES TO
LEAD AS JESUS LED
In the 21st century
organization,
all leaders must learn to follow
if they are to successfully lead.

BE A FOLLOWER Wilkes
Principle #2
FIRST
A servant
leader –
serves the
mission and
leads by
serving those
on mission
with them.
(C. Gene Wilkes,
p. 18)
SERVANT
LEADER
“I believe Jesus was (and is)
the greatest servant leader
because he served his
Father’s mission without
compromised and has
inspired many people over
may centuries to carry it out .
..
I believe Jesus was the
greatest leader
because his mission
was for all people for all
time.”

#3. People

when a leader
establishes
trust
Servant leaders
accept the honest
request of those

Jesus waited to
GOOD LEADERS understand what
KNOW TRUST IS they wanted from
him. (Mark 10: 35-
KEY 45)
“Relationship
is everything
in leadership
and trust is
the
foundation
upon which
relationships
in every
setting are
GOOD LEADERS built.”
KNOW TRUST IS Steven Covey
KEY
“Trust is the foundation
of all effective
relationships and
organizations. Without
a culture of high trust,
true empowerment can
neither be established
nor sustained. Why,
then, is the trust level
in most organization so
chronically low?
OBEY
WHEN TO
LEAD…
WHEN TO
FOLLOW
“Obedience is not an act of
subservience to a dictator; it is an
act of love and respect. Jesus said
he would know how much you and I
would love him by the way we obey
(do) his commandments (John
15:10,14)” (Wilkes, 1998, p. 81).
What can we learn about the role of
the leader and the follower from the
Tango? A lot. Pay attention and
reflect as to the significant role the
follower in making the Tango work
and making it work beautifully. As
you watch the clip, write down the
qualities that make a good follower.
