What is the purpose of the Engineering Procedure?

What are your responsibilities ?

1. Chief Mechanical Engineer


• Assign a Project Engineer to a Project.
• Assign resources of Mech. Engg. and Project Engg. Assistance to a project.
• Supervise and Oversee a project from Mech. Engg. point of view
• Ensure all engineering procedures are followed.
2. Project Engineer
• Takes technical lead of the project
• Central distribution point of technical information between client, vendors, and
internal disciplines.
• Review all incoming project technical documentation. Determine internal
distribution based on the relevance of documents.
• Maintains Technical Documents List.
• Ensure all documents transfer (except electrical) is channeled through Document
Control.
• Changes are promptly communicated between Engg. disciplines.
• Issues of solely electrical nature are not within the responsibility of the PE, and
fall in the responsibility of Electrical PE.
3. Mechanical Lead Engineer
• Co-ordinate and supervise personnel assigned to a project in the Mech. Engg
Dept.
• Responsible for all mechanical calculations – latest revision, checked, necessary
revisions are made whenever relevant changes are made.
• Ensure all mechanical design drawings comply with GA`s.
• Maintain documentation of all calculations including a fully traceable record of
all input data.
• Point of communication between Mechanical dept. and all other disciplines.
CALCULATIONS
1. Calculation Input should be –
• Traceable to its source.
• All derived information must be have a reference document( Document number and revision number).
• Assumptions and selections shall be backed up in form of cut sheets, written notes, etc.
2. Calculation Method –
• Computer programs and commonly used calculations shall make reference to underlying codes and
standards
• Calculation formulas other than basic engg. formulas shall be referenced to their source. e.g.:-
engineering literature.
3. Calculation Result –
• Recognizable and interpreted.
• If multiple cases are calculated, the governing results shall be identified.
• Pages must be numbered and total pages should be stated.
