Promotion-Meaning
• Promotion is vertical
movement of an
employee within the
organization.
• In other words, promotion
refers to the upward
movement of an
employee from one job to
another higher one, with
increase in salary, status
and responsibilities.
Purpose of Promotion

• To motivate & reward the employees to


higher productivity.
• To attract and retain the services of
qualified and competent people.
• To increase the effectiveness of the
employee and the organization.
• To fill up higher vacancies from the
