Vocation in Life

Vocation refers to one's true self and purpose in life, whether in marriage, single life, or consecrated life. It means discovering one's gifts and using them to achieve God's plan. God created each person for a reason and has a special plan and role for them to play. Living one's vocation is a lifelong journey of becoming fully alive through nurturing one's talents in service of God's kingdom.

Vocation
Vocation is “our truest and deepest self.”
It is the way we live with and to God and others...
whether in marriage, single life or consecrated
life.
It means...
Getting

the best

out of life!
“Vocation is
about
discovering
who
you really are
and
what you
should be
doing.”
We are all called, we
all have an individual
vocation which
encompasses
our whole lives; the
people we are, the
choices we make, the
lives we
live. Each of us has a
special path to follow
in life.
The truth is that each and every person has been
called into existence for a reason.
We have all been created out of love and for a
loving purpose.
God has a special plan for each one of us.
One way we can reflect on
this is by considering our
vocation as a
journey towards God,
following his invitation.
That journey is full of
different experiences, and
like on many journeys, we
each have to read
the signs and make choices
about which way to go.
These choices affect
the outcome of our lives.
What is truly amazing is to consider that you are
part of God’s master plan.
You have a role to play. You are called to become
more truly the person that God wants you to be
and to use the gifts and talents you have to
achieve this goal.
“God has created me to do Him some definite service;
He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to
another.
I have my mission – I have a part in this great work; I am a link in a
chain, a bond of connection between persons.
He has not created me for naught.“

Cardinal John Henry Newman

God’s call to each of us is not
a job or career but a
VOCATION
the life-long process
of becoming fully alive!
Every person is born with a unique
package of potential…
God-given gifts and talents
Given for self and others

Where/how can these best be

nurtured and developed?
How can I become my best self for
the sake of the kingdom?
Who are you
becoming?
think….

reflect…

pray….
What is God calling you to?
Visible sign of God’s love
Whether we are called
to married, single or
religious life we are all
called to be witnesses of
God’s love.
We are created out of
love and to love.
Living one’s own
vocation means being a
visible sign of God’s
love for all.
Open to God’s plan
God’s plan for
each of us is
fullness of life
and happiness.
Living one’s
vocation is
about being
open to God’s
plan and
responding to it
with joy and
trust.
Companions of Jesus
Whether we are called
to religious, married or
single life we are not
alone on our journey.
God gave us the
greatest gift: Jesus
Christ.
All Christians are
called to discipleship.
Jesus is our Brother,
our Guide and our
Teacher who points
the way for us.

Imagination
Dare to dream and to
imagine
Being true to your vocation
is also about being
imaginative and open to the
possibilities to realise your
dreams and deepest desires
Offering

Living out one’s vocation is about offering oneself – like

Jesus – to be bread offered, broken and shared for others
Vocation is not a
one-time response,
an act made once for
all. Rather, it is a
journey on which we
constantly choose
and confirm our
first choice to be
true to what God
Never ending story
wants us to be.
Once you begin to
think of your life
in a vocational
sense, and realize
that you are
called to be
someone special
and to do
something
unique, your life
The challenge facing you then is
to discern what specifically you
are being called to be and do; for
sure, this process involves
spending time in prayer,
reflection and discussion with a
trusted person. It’s a path of most
wonderful discovery.
Are you ready to give it a try?
d always remembe

He LOVES you
more and more
