Systems Approach VS Contingency Approach and Their Contribution

The document discusses and compares the systems approach and contingency approach to management. The systems approach views an organization as an open system composed of interrelated subsystems that work together to achieve goals. It also sees the organization as part of a larger external environment. The contingency approach states that different managerial situations require different approaches and that there is no single best way to solve all problems. It argues the appropriate actions depend on the specific parameters of the situation.

SYSTEMS APPROACH
A system is a set of inter-connected and
inter-related elements directed to achieve
certain goals. This theory views
organization as an organic and open
system composed of many sub-systems.
SYSTEMS APPROACH
 System approach to management views
the organization as a unified, purposeful
system composed of interrelated parts.
 This approach also gives the manager to
see the organization as a whole and as a
part of the larger external environment.

CONTI.
Contingency approach states that there is “no one best
way” to manage an organisation. It is also known as
situational approach.
