Reality Based Learning - Don't Forget The Ball

The document discusses the concept of transfer in soccer coaching and education. It explains that transfer refers to how players and student coaches apply skills and learning from training sessions and coursework respectively to actual games and real-world coaching. For players to improve, the characteristics of training drills must closely mimic gameplay, while coursework for student coaches needs to reflect the real demands of coaching clubs and teams. The document emphasizes simulating real-world situations in educational contexts to facilitate effective transfer of learning to practical application.

Casus Almere City B1
You are the coach of u17 team of a professional club (1:4:3:3).
During matches in the league the opponent mostly scores the
first
goal. Next they drop into their own half and try to play the counter
attack . The team has many problems to create chances. The
cooperation between the midfield players and strikers is not
working well. Especially the wing players loose the ball too often
due to making making wrong decisions.

Tasks ( in groups of 5):

1. Describe an objective for the training session.
2. Make a week planning (with 4 training sessions) to work on this
problem.
3. Make a training session to prepare your team for this problem.
