Examination Malpractices
This is the manipulation of examination process by the candidates (students),
examination supervisor or invigilator. It can also be described as the acts and
practices that are against the established norms and regulations for conducting
examinations. Examples includes:
1. Bringing prepared materials into the examination hall.
2. Impersonation: using another person(s) to write an examination in place of the
actual candidate.
3. Copying/giraphing during examinations and other types of cheating.

Causes of examination Malpractices


1. Inadequate preparation for the examination and life generally.
2. Laziness.
3. Low self esteem.
4. Inability to cope with academic work.
5. Societal/parental influence.
6. Breakdown of social values and ethics.
7. Inability to discover ones strength.
8. Indiscretion of examination officials.
Effects of Examination Malpractices
1. Poor academic performance.
2. Dismissal from school.
3. Imprisonment of culprits.
4. It reduces the worth of our certificates.
5. It also encourages students to join bad gangs and other anti-social groups.
6. It encourages laziness in students.
7. It gives the country poor image abroad.
