Batch production involves manufacturing a group of identical items in batches, where each batch goes through successive stages of production before the completed batch is finished. It is suitable for products with relatively constant demand and allows tasks to be completed more quickly by working in larger quantities. Typical products made through batch production include bakery items, clothing, fast food, shoes, and pharmaceuticals. Manufacturers use batch production when demand is smaller to reduce waste and decrease lead times compared to continuous production.

INTRODUCTION TO BATCH PRODUCTION
• Batch production is where the manufacturing process is split into a
number of different operations; each of which is carried out on the whole batch before it is moved on and another batch received. The batch is moved on from one stage of production to the next until all the manufacturing processes are completed. Batch production involves the manufacture of a group of identical items and is normally used when the demand for the product is relatively constant. • Production is less personal in that products are not individualised to customer requirement; the focus is on making high quality products at an affordable price. Workers specialise and are less likely to be highly skilled or multi-skilled. Specialised equipment is probably used since it is possible to get higher capital utilisation. Products are cheaper, but capital cost is significantly higher than for job production. • By working tasks in batches, less time is needed to change parts, move to different machines, or perform other activities. Each task can be completed in large numbers, which allows tasks to be completed more quickly than working them one at a time. Batch processing can be used for every aspect of the production of some items, or just for one step in the production process for others. • Typical products produced in batches include bakery products, clothing, 'fast-food', shoes and pharmaceuticals. Why do manufacturers use batch production
• It’s recommended to use batch production when producing
in smaller quantities because this can reduce waste and decrease lead times in production. • As these products are not continuously made, manufacturers can charge a premium price. • The ability of batch production machinery systems includes assembling product components, involving control and testing capabilities, and building in a ‘no-faults forward’ mechanism. • This ensures the level of incorrect batches that might be pulled through to the next process are kept to a minimum. INTRODUCTION TO COCA COLA • The coca cola company is the worlds largest beverage company and is the leading producer and marketer of soft drinks. However, coca cola is not the sort of company to live on its past glories; instead it looks to the future as a challenge and constantly seeks new markets and ways of increasing it's market share in areas where it currently has a strong persence. Implementation of the method • Raw materials are treated • Initial shaping is done • Smoothing of the edges • Basic processing • Finishing of product • Assembling of the bottles • Checked and tested https://youtu.be/yet4zA415B8 Advantages of batch production • 1. Economies of sales • 2. Unit costs are low • 3. Offer variety of choice DISADVANTAGES • Careful Planning • Down Time • Less motivation • Inventories are expensive • Higher cost per unit • Costliest
