A Hub is a central place where we accommodate every component of a particular industry related to the previous, on going and future
developments. A hub is a network hub used for connection of devices in a network. ... The three types of hub are active, passive and
intelligent.
FASHION ?
Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, hairstyle and body. Fashion is a
distinctive and often constant trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behavior and the newest
creations of textile designers.
Fashion hub is a meeting point for all the major activities related to fashion. It is an amalgamation of retail spaces, exhibition area, museum,
library, conference room, seminar rooms, office, production units, ramp show areas, food court , boarding facilities etc. Fashion Hub acts as a
meeting point for all major activities related to fashion and bridges the gap in development within the industry.
Since the 16th century, Paris has been regarded as the Fashion Capital of the World. ... Also various other cities host notable fashion events
and are influential in global fashion.

What is a Fashion Industry?


The Fashion industry is a product of modern age with the rise of new technologies such as sewing machines, rise of global
capitalism, development of factory system of production and proliferation of retail outlets such as department stores.

Fashion Cycles:
Consumers are exposed each season to a multitude of new styles created by
 fashion designers. Some are rejected immediately by the press or by the
buyer on the retail level, but others are accepted for a time, as
demonstrated by consumers purchasing and wearing them.
AIM OF THE PROJECT
• To create interactive, creative and inspiring platforms for various professionals pertaining to fashion industry and linking
architecture and fashion.
• Creates an distinctive icon for fashion in a city thus a landmark is created.
• To create a hub which will serve the purpose of permanent marketplace for the Indian fashion industry to further their business
transactions.
• To develop a fashion hub that has mix of fashion, business, entertain, culture and leisure and powerful identity .
• To segregate the public and private spaces so that they are inter-connected to each other.
• It creates an exciting public experience fusing both the physical and digital fashion .
• Making potential use of existing landform ,topography and vegetation on site.

• The proposed Fashion Hub will serve the purpose of a permanent market-place for the Indian fashion industry to further their
business transactions.
• To incorporate spaces that will help that will nurture and help the upcoming fashion designers providing them with marketing
support.
•  Creates a one stop for fashion related activities and information in a provided place for varied sectors of people i.e; exhibitors,
fashion designers, speculators, common public etc.;
• To promote the development of fashion products appreciation among the public in general.
• To act as a permanent fashion gallery that will project the image of contemporary India displaying the modern look of India on one
hand along with showcasing the rich Indian heritage and prowess in craftsmanship that is passed from one generation to the other.
• To give the Indian fashion business a grand leap.
• To create enormous energy between the various components of the Fashion industry.
•  To provide high end for Indian fashion and to integrate its various aspects.

There are four different levels to the fashion business 


-Primary, Secondary, Retail, and Auxiliary.
• The Primary Level consists of growers and producers of raw materials. We've heard of man-made and/or synthetic fibre. This is where that
happens. Fiber, fabric, leather, and fur producers. Color and texture planning take place in this stage. 
• The Secondary Level is made up of industries. Manufacturers or contractors that produce the semi-finished or finished product from material
made in the primary level. This is where the Designers, manufacturers, contractors, and vendors work at.
• The Retail Level is just what it sounds like. This is ultimately the distribution level. The retail level is where all the different types of retailers
purchase their goods from the secondary level.
• The Auxiliary Level is the only level that functions with all other levels simultaneously. This level basically offers support services to the
primary producers, secondary manufacturers and retailers to the consumer, us, aware of all the merchandise that's being produced.

TECHNOLOGY INFLUENCES
Internet technology such as online retailers and social media platforms have given way for trends to be Facebook can easily increase awareness
about new trends in fashion which can create high demand for specific items or brands.identified, marketed and sold immediately.
SOCIAL INFLUENCES
Fashion trend goes beyond the aesthetic values, it emerges as an expressive tool for designers to deliver their message about
the society. With the influence of social media, celebrities and bloggers, their voice are easily being heard and have impact on
fashion and trend at any time. Fashion and music are inseparable .
 CONSUMER’S NEEDS
Consumers all have different needs and demands that have to be suited. A person's needs change frequently, which is why fashion
trends even exist.
EVENTS- Fashion events such as fashion weeks have a large economic footprint and support businesses in areas such as event
management, photography and modeling.

 
TYPES OF FASHION PRODUCT AND FASHION BUSINESS
Fashion products- Basically it is categorized into 12 types
-APPAREL
Clothing lines for women, men and children. In many cases, apparel is also sold as a unisex item.
-FOOTWEAR
Anything worn on the feet such as boots, shoes and sandals. Includes sporting goods such as ballet shoes or swim fins.
-SPORTSWEAR
Clothing for physical activities such as shorts, tracksuits, swimsuits, wet suits, ski wear and helmets.
- BRIDAL WEAR
Wedding dresses are a major industry on their own.
-FORMAL WEAR
Formal wear such as full evening dress (white tie), business suit, ball gowns, evening gowns, wedding dresses and traditional garments such as a
Scottish kilt.
 -ACCESSORIES
Items that contribute to clothing in one way or another such as ties, cufflinks, handbags, hats, gloves, belts, eyewear, wallets, umbrellas, socks and
stockings.
-WATCHES & JEWELRY
A category of accessory that are viewed as durable items that potentially last for life. Expensive items may be viewed as heirlooms .
-LUGGAGE
It is common for fashion designers to offer a line of luggage. As such, it is considered a type of large fashion accessory.
-COSMETICS
Makeup ,beauty products, hair products, skin cleansers and lotions, perfumes and cologne .
-COSTUMES
A type of specialty fashion that includes clothing for cosplay , Halloween, costumes, mascots, cultural activities, events, musical and theatrical
Performances.
-TEXTILES
Textiles in various materials, textures and prints .
-VINTAGE AND SECONDHAND
Used items that are valued as a collectable, reused to achieve a sustainable lifestyle or distributed to those in need.
 
 -RETAIL
Retail shops may design their own items or act as fashion buyers that focus on areas such as logistics, marketing, sale, retail operations.

India started emerging as a major manufacturer of textiles till 2000’s and later on took up the dual role of consumers and manufacturer.
Therefore the fashion hub will play a pivotal role in the year to come and also enhance the current developments in the industry .

LIMITATIONS -
• Construction has to be done as per PUDA norms .
• Structural portion is a limitations for architects .
• In this fashion industry it is difficult to attract all Indian designers, and buyers in this specific part of India.

GEOGRAPHY –
Mohali, Ajitgarh or Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar is a city in the SAHIBZADA AJIT SINGH NAGAR (SAS Nagar) in PUNJAB , INDIA
which is a commercial hub lying south-west to the Union territory of Chandigarh.

TOPOGRAPHY –
The Topography of the district is even. It is mostly a plain of alluvial type. It also has loam to heavy loam and sand to sandy loam soils in
certain parts of the district.
CLIMATE
SPRING
• The climate remains the most enjoyable part of the year during the spring season (from mid - February to mid - April). temperatures vary
between (max) 16 °c to 25 °c and (min) 9 °c to 18 °c.
AUTUMN
• In Autumn (from mid- September to mid November.), the temperature may rise to a maximum of 36 °C. Temperatures usually remain between
16° to 27° in autumn. the minimum temperature is around 11 °C.
SUMMER:
• The temperature in summer (from mid- May to mid- June) may rise to a maximum of 45 °c • (rarely). temperatures generally remain between 35
°c to 40 °c (94 - 101f).
MONSOON
• During monsoon(from mid- June to mid- September), Mohali receives moderate to heavy rainfall and sometimes heavy to very heavy rainfall
(generally during the month of august or September). usually, the rain bearing monsoon winds blow from south-west/ south-east. mostly, the city
receives heavy rain from south (which is mainly a persistent rain) but it generally receives most of its rain during monsoon either from north-west
or north-east.
WINTER
• (November to mid-march) are mild but it can sometimes get quite chilly in Mohali Average temperatures in the winter remain at (max) 7 °c to
15 °c and (min) 0°c to 8 °c. rain usually comes from the west during winters and it is usually a persistent rain for 2-3 days with sometimes hail
storms.
WIND FLOW –
The predominant average hourly wind direction in Mohali varies throughout the year. The wind is most often from the west for 2.4 months, from
May 2 to July 15; for 3.9 weeks, from August 8 to September 4; and for 1.1 weeks, from September 14 to September 22, with a peak percentage of
45% on June 12.
JUSTIFICATION OF THE SITE

Fashion hub is an initiative way of bringing together the scattered and unorganized fashion design industry to generate a large platform in Mohali
for Fashion business. Since the site is located in Mohali and is near Chandigarh (Union territory) so it is feasible for students and people
to visit and to search it .

REASON FOR CHOOSING THE SITE –


• Site is flat, so easily construction is done on a flat land .
• The site is easily accessible from all the sides .
• The site has good connectivity to airport road , all Mohali sectors and even Chandigarh .
• The proposed site is surrounded by bus stand , PUDA Bhawan ,Gurudwara sahib .
• This area has a lot of scope for successful operation .

HOTEL
PROJECT INTRODUCTION
What is a Hotel?
A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. Hotel operation vary in size, function and cost. Most hotels and major
hospitality companies have set industry standards to classify hotel types. The word hotel is derived from the French hotel (Coming from the same
origin as hospital), which referred to a French version of a building seeing frequent visitors, and providing care rather than a place offering
accommodation.
What are the types of hotels?
• Budget and Value Hotels.
• Inns and B&Bs.
• Mid-Range Hotels and Business Hotels.
• Family Hotels and Resorts.
• Holiday Condo Resorts.
• Luxury and high-end hotels

• Hotels on private island
OTHER CATEGORIES OF HOTEL
• CITY CENTRE: include luxury, convention and city tourist hotels. Characterized by high plot ratio, high rise construction, frequently large function accommodation,
inclusion of shops.
• MOTELS: cater mainly for people en route by car or motorizing locally
• AIRPORT HOTELS: similar planning to motor hotels but catering specifically for air travellers
• RESORT HOTELS: at seaside or mountain resorts or spas. Usually planned to cater for package holidays

STAR CATEGORY HOTELS:


• 1-STAR: These hotels are small and usually managed and operated by the owner.
• 2-STARS: These hotels are generally part of a chain that offers consistent quality and limited amenities. They are small or medium in size and rooms will have a phone
and TV.
• 3-STARS: These hotels are usually located next to major expressways, business centres or shopping areas. They offer spacious rooms and decorative lobbies.
• 4-STARS: One can expect formal and large hotels with excellent facilities. Above-average service, beautifully furnished rooms, restaurants, room service, valet parking,
fitness centre and a concierge are some amenities to expect.
• 5-STARS/5-STAR DELUXE:
•Well-established prestige hotels are usually content to claim the traditional five.
•Quality, Service and Consistency are all that count for the rating of a hotel. These must be of superior quality and high standard.

The policy makers, administrators, law enforcement authorities, professionals and others have used certain parameters for the classification of hotels such as:
• Hotel Quality (e.g. luxury, first class, mid-range and economy)
• Hotel Location (e.g. city center , rural, seaside)
• Hotel Style (e.g. traditional hotel, resort hotel, all-suite hotel, motel)

basis things that are customarily furnished within households but unavailable to people on a journey away from home.
• Historically hotels have also taken on many other functions, serving as business exchanges, centers of sociability, places of public assembly and
deliberation, decorative showcases, political headquarters, vacation spots, and permanent residences.
• The hotel as an institution, and hotels as an industry, transformed travel in America, hastened the settlement of the continent, and extended
the influence of urban culture.
• Maintaining a good quality of hospitality services is very essential for the Flourishing of Tourism.
INTRODUCTION TO 5 STAR HOTELS
Five star hotels, the world over, are meeting-places for the rich and powerful-place which reverberate with business and politics. The hotel industry
has its roots in the past in almost over country of the world. Examples of types of hotels are convention hotels, business hotels, etc. India tourism
Development Corporation classified hotels into start rating from one star to seven stars. Hotel provides a service to the customer whose
requirements are clean, quite and comfortable stays. The emphasis lies on good food and good services. Hotels range in different sizes depending
on the market requirement . The development in the hotel industry leads to a major break-through in the tourism of the country.
The beautiful and exotic locations are new accessible for the entire tourists coming to the country. Restaurants and coffee shops have always been
the attraction of 5 star hotels. To cater the growing trend of pre-dinner drinks and dances, bars and discotheques have also been incorporated into
the fabric of five star.
IMPORTANCE:-Hotels today have become such a popular and profitable business, that now they are recognize as an industry. The large and
increasing flow of tourist coupled with rapidly changing social and cultural life of Indian community at large has resulted in great demands for
hotels. Today India has about 59000 approved hotel rooms against the requirement of 120000 hotels. By the turn of the century, It laid emphasis
on encouraging private sector investment in developing tourism. Hotel is a type of building which has a never ending prospect and future. Its a “
Soft machine of Hospitality”.
AIM OF THE PROJECT
• To understand the functions and Services associate with 5-Star hotel.
• To evolve an appropriate architectural design solution for a 5 star hotel to promote functional efficiency associated with hotel.
• to aim for globalization of the Industry and its integration with the world economy in conformity with the national policies;
• To evolve and innovative space, comprehensively the functional and spatial research between the each function and spaces
involved.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT


• to plan, promote and protect by lawful means, the interests of the Hotel Industry (hereinafter called the "Industry")
• to secure for the Industry its due place in India's economy, and highlight its crucial role in the service of tourism industry;
• to help raise the standards, growth, efficiency and an image of the Industry both in India and abroad;
• to project the Industry's role as a contributor to employment generation, through expansion of services for domestic/export
markets;
• to give high priority to activities designed to bring about improvement in the performance of Industry such as Energy
Conservation, R&D, Export, Technology Transfer and Development, Human Resources Development, Quality, Productivity etc
• to plan, promote, and provide for training in all operations and management of the Industry and Other Sectors as may be
approved by the Management Committee from time to time;

expressed in a mission statement , which defines the unique purpose that sets one hotel from another.
• Mission statement should address the following three main constitutes:

guests that they will treasure for a lifetime; and to be the destination of choice for our discerning guests, members, associates,
communities, and investors.

The scope of the design aims to offer a 3 dimensional layout in terms of plans , elevations, sections and model.

SITE DETAILS

HUDA intendeds to develop a five star- deluxe


hotel in Panchkula, Haryana. The site is part of
city Centre sector-5. It is in close vicinity to
Chandigarh and Mohali. Thus it intends to Centre of the tricity.
ACCESSIBILITY:
•DISTANCE FROM CHANDIGARH AIRPORT- 22 KM(30 MIN)
•DISTANCE FROM CHANDIGARH RAILWAY STATION- 5.4 KM
(10 MIN)
•DISTANCE NEW CHANDIGARH ISBT 12 KM (25 MIN)

Ground coverage – Shall not exceed 30% of the area of plot.


F.A.R- The maximum total covered area on all floors shall not exceed 175% of total site area.( Area under basement and stilts shall not be counted
towards FAR building.)

Parking- 20% of the parking shall be at the street level.


The parking space for buildings shall not be less than 1PCU for 50 sqm of covered areas on all floors.
The area for parking of a car shall be as under:
Basement-35sqm, stilt-30sqm and open-25sqm
Parking for special area like auditorium shall be in addition as per BIS code and not more than 25% of parking spaces within hotel.

Basement- 3 level basement is allowed in the hotel building and within the building zone of the site subject to the condition that I flushes with the
adding pavements/grounds.

Landscaping- at least 30% of the site area should be landscaped.

Gate Post and Boundary wall – Main entry of hotel building shall from the side AB. However a service gate can be taken along the side EF.
The maximum height of boundary wall be 1.15m.

Commercial Area- Upto 10% of permissible FAR or 20 shops, whichever is less.

Climate-
Panchkula features a humid subtropical climate with three defined seasons: summer, winter and monsoon
