Impact of Abolition of Article 370 and 35a

Article 370 and 35A gave special status and rights to the region of Jammu and Kashmir. Article 370 allowed Jammu and Kashmir to have its own constitution and barred the Indian parliament from enacting laws. Article 35A granted special residency rights. India has now scrapped both articles, dividing Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories to be fully integrated into India. The moves have generated mixed reactions within India and little international opposition as it is seen as India's internal matter.
