STAR Technique
• Behavioral interviewing is a technique employed by interviewers to
evaluate your past behavior in order to predict your future behavior
in a particular situation.
• Answering behavioral questions is not an easy task, but proper
preparation will assist you in answering them successfully. Utilizing
the S.T.A.R. Method will help you construct an organized, specific,
thoughtful, and concise answer
• This technique is helpful in forecasting future responses of candidates
or employees.
STAR
• Situation:Think of a situation of the past which had positive
outcome.By virtue of this candidates are being encouraged to think
and remember events of the past in which he had contributed and
positive outcome has been observed.
• Task: The candidate is asked to describe the task which were involved
in that situation.
• Actions: Describe what actions were taken by you to complete the
tasks and achieve the goal.
• Results:What results emerged due to your actions taken.
Star Technique

Task Explain the challenges involved.
What should be done.
Action Describe Actions taken.
Result Explain the outcome in measurable
for generally in terms of
accomplishments etc.
Behavioral Event Interviewing (BEI)
• Behavioral Event Interviewing (BEI) is a technique that asks the
candidate to describe a situation or an experience they had in a
previous job. Responses may not be as polished as the traditional
type of question because they cannot be rehearsed ahead of time.
