Process behind the Internet
The Internet is made up of a massive network of specialized
computers called routers. Each router's job is to know how to
move packets along from their source to their destination. A
packet will have moved through multiple routers during its
journey. When a packet moves from one router to the next, it's
called a hop.
Internet
Every time you made a
request on the internet,
the data can be
transmitted maybe
through under the sea
wires or through radio
frequencies across
satellites.
Everything you need to know
about the World Wide Web
World Wide Web
• Also know as simply the ‘web’ or to most people they call it WWW.

• It was invented by Tim-Berners Lee a British Computer Scientist on

the year 1990.

• Lee’s vision was the used the internet to share information to everyone
connected to it.
History of The ‘WEB’
During the development of the World Wide Web, Tim sets 3 rules in using it, and that
compose the following:
• HTML: HyperText Markup Language.  A way of displaying documents or text based data on the
internet

• URI: Uniform Resource Identifier: The address or location or path to where the HTML document is
stored.

• HTTP: Hypertext Transfer Protocol. Allows for the retrieval of linked resources from across the web.

• Those 3 rules laid the foundations of the modern Web.

Domain Names
Domain name is the address
of your website that people
type in the browser URL bar
to visit your website.

The main characteristic of a

Domain Name is that it
should be unique from all the
domain name on the Internet.
Domain Names
• On the year 1985, the first ever domain name was registered, it was www.symbolics.com

• Finding a website is not as easy as it was, before 1985 searching a particular website would require

a bit of technical trait to locate one.

• Because the Internet is so vast, locating a website back then was a bit of a challenge.

• To identify a single website, each computer is assigned an IP address. It is a series of numbers that

identify a particular computer on the internet. A typical IP address looks like this:

66.249.66.1
Server
• a SERVER is a piece of
computer hardware or
software that provides
functionality for other
programs or devices, called
"clients". This architecture
is called the client–server
model.
Web Server
• "Web server" can refer to hardware or software, or both of them
working together.

• On the hardware side, a web server is a computer that stores

web server software and a website's component files (e.g.
HTML documents, images, CSS stylesheets, and JavaScript
files). It is connected to the Internet and supports physical data
interchange with other devices connected to the web.
Web Server
• In the software side, a web server includes several parts that control how web users
access hosted files, at minimum an HTTP server. An HTTP server is a piece of
software that understands URLs (web addresses) and HTTP (the protocol your
browser uses to view webpages). It can be accessed through the domain names (like
mozilla.org) of websites it stores, and delivers their content to the end-user's device.
Search Engine
• A web service that helps you find other web pages, such as
Google, Bing, Yahoo, or DuckDuckGo. Search engines are
normally accessed through a web browser (e.g. you can
perform search engine searches directly in the address bar of
Firefox, Chrome, etc.) or through a web page (e.g. bing.com or
duckduckgo.com).
Did you know!
• Google, the worlds number
one choice in search
engine used to have
apostrophe(!) in the end of
its name.
