Types of Concept Paper

This document discusses two types of concept papers: implicit and explicit. Implicit concept papers imply meaning that is not directly stated, while explicit concept papers fully and clearly express all meaning without implying anything. The document provides examples to illustrate the difference between implicit statements that suggest meaning and explicit statements that directly state the meaning. It concludes that implicit concepts express implied meaning while explicit concepts directly state the actual meaning.

TYPES OF

CONCEPT PAPER
• Concept papers are usually
requirements for every academic
program or for a particular
research project.
• According to Piccinini (2011), only
two kinds of concept exist: implicit
and explicit.
Implicit
-“implied” or understood though not plainly or directly expressed.

Example:
She implicitly said she likes yellow shoes
by saying she likes all colors but red.
Explicit
- to fully and clearly express something, leaving nothing implied.

Example:
He said explicitly, you will not attend
that concert.
• The difference of the two terms can be
detected. Implicit is used to express the
implied meaning that does not exist.
• On the other hand, explicit expresses the
actual meaning of the sentence.
