Rules
1. Vowel /a/ has two sounds short and long vowels.
2. Short vowel sound like a in the apple and long vowel a sound like cape in abc.
3. Long vowel has sound ai a-e ay.
4. Long vowel sound CVC+e (silent)  but it causes the preceding vowel to be long.
(Examples: ate, plane, Pete, bite, nine, rope, note, cube, flute.)
