• Is a crucial period in the development of
an individual. It marks the major
transition stage that bridge childhood to
adulthood.
• Is between the ages of 15-21

• This refers to the process of
self-actualization and
learning that combines an
individual’s mental,
physical, social, emotional
and spiritual growth.
What comprises a holistic
person?
PROCESS OF DEVELOPMENT
• 1. PHYSIOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
– The physical attributes including the five
senses. This pertains to the maturing of
the body and its functions.
2. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

• -the emergence of the ability to


think and understand. Changes in
one’s mental abilities, learning
capacity, memory, reasoning,
thinking process and language are
evident.
• The brain plays a vital role.
3. PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

• The manner by which an individual


interacts with other individuals or
groups of individuals.
• It refers to the learned and
developed ways of behaving in
accordance to social expectations.
4. PSYCHOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
• How thinking, feeling and behaving
interact and happen in a person.
• It involves how growth and
emotions changes as adolescents
show unpredictable attitude, mood
swings, and frantic emotional
outburst which slowly subsides as
they age towards adulthood.
5. SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
• The attribute of a person’s
consciousness and beliefs, including
the values and virtues that guide and
put meaning into a person’s life.
• It is the process of developing personal
belief to God and holiness.
• Spirituality affects the person’s
morality.
