Functions of Management

Step I –
Planning :-
planning is the process of thinking
about the activities required to archive a
desired goal.
Planning
 A primary managerial activaties that involves:
 Definning the organizatons goals.
 Establishing an overall strategy for archiving those goal
 Developing plans for orgnisational work activities
 Types of planning
 Formal :
 formal planning is often done at the last minit,and there
is littile or no sharing of goals and strategies with others
in the organisation.
 formal planning is in the form of well-strucute process
involving different steps.
 In large organisations they undertake planning in formal
way in which they create corporate planning cell placed
at sufficiently high level in the organisations.
Informal :
o Informall planning and responding to an
individuals need can take place daily in the
community sector by :
i. Asking someone how they want to spend
their day.
ii. Informally reviewing an axisting formal
planns.
iii. Asking a client how everything is.
o Informal planning may not always need to
be documented but it must still occure
within the boundaries of organisational
policies and procedures.
Organising :
The process by which managers established working
relationships among the employees to achieve goals.
o Organising is the function of management which
follows planning.
o It is a function in which the synchronization and
combination of human, physical and fianancial
resources take place.
o A manager performs organising function with the help
of following steps :
i. Identification of activities
ii. Departmentally organising the activities
iii. Classifyning the authorities
iv. Co-ordination between authority and responsibility
Staffing :
Staffing involves the process of filling the vacant
position of the right personnel at the right job, at right
time. Hence, everything will occure in a right manner.
Functions of staffing

i. The first and foremost function of staffing is to obtain


qualified personnel for different jobs position in the
organization.
ii. In staffing, the right person is recruited for the right
jobs, therfore it leads to maximum productivity and
higher performance.
iii. It helps in promoting the optimum utilization of
human resource throught various aspects.
iv. Staffing helps to ensure better utilization of human
resources.
Importance of Staffing
i. Efficient Performance of Other

ii. Effective Use of Technologhy and Other
resouces.
iii. Optimum utilization of Human
resources.
Directing
Directing may defined as the process of instructing,
guiding, and inspiring human factors in the
organisation to achieve organisation objectives.
In directing, managers determine direction; state a
clear vision for employees to follow and help
employees understand the role they play in attaining
goals.
The outcome of directing function is a high level of
motivation and commitment from employees to the
organisation.
