Steps In Building FlexSim

Model
Starting Model Settings

• Click on New model


• Set model units and click on ok
• Time Units – minutes
• Length Units - Meters
3d Model Building

Create Objects :
Drag and drop objects from
library
• Source – 1, Queue- 1, Processor-3
• Sink -1, Dispatcher -1, Operator-1
• Name the objects
• Double-click on it, change its name at the top of
the Properties window, and press Apply or OK
• Name of the objects can be made as described in
the video/ problem description
Connecting Objects – Fixed And Mobile Resources

Use A- Connection
• Connect Source to Buffer1
• Connect Buffer1 to Machine1
• Connect Buffer1 to Machine2
• Connect Buffer1 to Machine3
• Connect Machine1 to Sink
• Connect Machine2 to Sink
• Connect Machine3 to Sink
• Connect Dispatcher to Operator

Use S – Connection
• Connect Buffer1 to Dispatcher
Source

• Open the property window of the source


• Choose default inter-arrival time
• Create an on exit trigger
• Select the option data>set item type and
colour>duniform(1,3)
Buffer Configuration

• Open the property window of the Buffer


• Open the flow tab
• Select the by expression option in the send to
port
• Check use transport to use the operator for
transport
Experimenter Scenario Configuration

• Open the experimenter tab using the statistics


button
• Create a scenario variable – number of
operators and add four scenarios
Experimenter Performance Measure Configuration

• Open the performance measure tab


• Create the performance measure using the “+”
sign
• Change the performance measure name to
output
• Add sink input as the performance measure
using the performance measure field
Experimenter Run Configuration And Results

• Open the experimenter run tab


• Set the replications per scenario as 1
• Set the run time as 4320 minutes
