to-day business operates
with everyone working
in the same room.
Private Layout
It is a small rooms or cabinets
which are separated from the open
office by partitions. They are
usually meant for top executives
like Managing Director, Secretary,
General Manager, and Sales
Department Manager.

Sometimes private office is


provided to a group of people who
are doing a special project,
performing confidential nature of
work or need of concentration of
work.

Elements of Office Environment
Ventilation
Itis the process of changing or replacing air in any
space to provide indoor air quality. Ventilation is used
to remove unpleasant smells and excessive moisture,
introduce outside air, to keep interior building air
circulating and to prevent stagnation of the interior
air.

Ventilation includes both the exchange of air to the


outside as well as circulation of air within the
building. It is one of the most important factors for
maintaining acceptable indoor air quality in buildings.
Office Lighting
When designing an office layout, picking
furniture and deciding on open or closed
floor plans may take the bulk of your
attention. However, less tangible
elements, specifically lighting, are just as
important to consider.

Natural Light
 Natural lighting, also known as daylighting, is a
technique that efficiently brings natural light into
your office using exterior glazing. 
The impact of natural light
 Open floor plans are ideal in that they allow for
greater flow of daylight from windows.
 Research discovered that exposure to natural light in
an office impacts employees quality of life.
Artificial Light
◦ Artificial lights is human made and can
emanate from sources including fire, candle
light, gaslight, electric lamps and so on.

Cleanliness
 Whereas cleanliness can be said as a state of being free
of dirt and germs. Although it is impossible for one to
get rid of the germs entirely regardless of all the
techniques, as millions of germs roam about in the air.
The aim of cleanliness is simply a healthy environment.

 A clean workplace can be said as a place where there is


an all-round protection from germs to health. It is not a
place which looks clean but a place which actually
germs free for the employer, employees and the
customers.

environmental comfort. Its goal is to
provide thermal and acceptable indoor air
quality. 

We expect our heating systems to keep us


warm during the winter, and we depend
on air-conditioning to keep us cool during
the summer.
Noise
Internal Noise
◦ It is the noise which originates inside the
office room. The noise due to conversation in
office, rustling of papers, scrapping of chairs
and rattling of papers are the examples of
internal noise. Internal noise can be controlled
by using sound absorbing materials and
separation of noisy equipments.
Noise
External Noise
◦ It is the noise which comes from outside of the
office. The sources of external noise are noise
by running vehicles and machines, noise from
street sounds and noise of air conditioning.
Health
It is the state of being free from illness or
injury.
Healthy workers are more productive at
work than unhealthy workers. Health and
wellbeing programs that address the
health risk of workers within the
organization lead to increase staff
engagement, reduced turn over and higher
productivity.
What happens when your health is in poor
