Observations:
• For all syn motors, the operations at constant v/f ratio maintains a
constant pull out torques at all speeds both during motoring and braking.
• The pull out torques varies inversely with speed.
• In case of wound field motors, an increase in field current increase the pull
out torques for all speeds, below and above base speed.
• If the 6 step VSI is used, the harmonic content increases, because of the
low impedance of the damper winding.
• The harmonic will cause losses and torque pulsations.
• The harmonic current scan be reduced by increasing the impedance of the
damper windings which leads to less effective during hunting period.
• Because of the hunting and stability problems, the true syn mode is
employed only in multiple syn reluctance and permanent magnet motor
drives requiring accurate speed tracking between the motors.
