1.6 - Generator-Load Modelling - Class

The document discusses generator load modeling and how the rate of change of stored kinetic energy and the rate of change of load with respect to frequency affect the net change in power output. It derives equations to calculate the rate of change of kinetic energy and the rate of change of load with respect to frequency. It then combines these equations to determine the net change in power output in terms of the generator rating and the power system time constant.

Generator –Load Modelling
The increment in power input to the system is ΔPG – ΔPD,

where ΔPG = ΔPt, the incremental power output and

ΔPD is the load increment.

Assume that generator incremental losses of the generator are neglected.

1. Rate of increase in stored energy
The stored KE is        W0ke = H * Pr  (KJ of MJ)                    (1)

Where Pr, is the MW rating of the turbo-generator and

H is defined as its inertia constant.
