Children must be instructed on how to think, not what to think. Reading is a tool for helping
the children to understand the concept of literature. How do you describe the nature of children’s
literature? What are the personal and academic value of Children’s Literature? Which do you think
is the most important? What is the importance of the emergence of modern children’s literature,
which event do you think is the most important?
Children's literature is a book that sustains and provides knowledge to the young mind of a
child. It is not only for entertaining the curiosity, but a foundation to enhance the vocabulary of
the child. It's not only a book about fairytales, it’s a book that opens the mind to wondrous
things. Literature that open new door to the children. Those content of the book is limited only for
the sake of young, to be able to easily understand. Yet the techniques and style of writing can
capture the heart and interest of the child. Children literature has two value the personal and
academic value. Under the academic value are the following. First is the enjoyment in which is the
most important. For the child to experience the fun, excitement and thrill while reading those
literature. Literature opens the imagination of the child, those events happened in the story
bringing them to a world of fiction or non-fiction and use it as the inspiration for them and even
idolizing the character
JOURNAL ENTRY

Knowledge and insight are important due to it helps the young minds to think and have a question
how it happens, to make it short they ask everything about the scenarios happen in the story.
Understanding and empathy is also important since they easily get what is the point of the story and
help them to be kind in any situation. Having those literature can easily identify the culture and
heritage for their own identity. For example, the story of Aladdin that shows the culture of India it
helps them to identify and differentiate those culture. Moral reasoning is getting the moral lesson in
the literature that can use and apply to their young life. In academic value, reading, writing, content
area subjects and art appreciation is the things that child can improved to. Reading is help them to
have a better pronunciation. In writing it helps the child to use technique and styles to catch the
attention of the reader. Content -area subjects simply literature across curriculum. Art appreciation is
appreciating ones art. As for me, the most important personal value is the knowledge and insight that
can get from literature for the reason that knowledge can’t take away from children’s mind. It like a
treasure. In academic content matter.
The importance of emergence of literature reflects humankind and a way for us to get it each
other. By listening to the voice of another individual able to start to figure out how that person
considers. I accept that writing is vital since of its reason and in a society, which is getting to be
expanding confined from human interaction, books make a discussion. New berry books is the most
important cause its focus to the enjoyment of the children, learning while having fun as a kid.

JOURNAL ENTRY

Young Adult literature is usually described as books written for an audience of 12-20-year-old. it should also
include books primarily written for adults but, which have appeal to younger readers. Literature that reflects the
relevant issues in an adolescent. Young adult literature is a literature that shows the adolescent's points of view.
This literature sometimes classified books as young adult literature arbitrary. Literature that young adults can read
with their discretion and interest. A kind of literature that open the minds and widened the vocabulary of a young
adult.
As a young adult who loves to read, the most important quality is its increase in literacy and the ability to
analyze one’s literature. Reading develops the higher thinking skills of the reader. It is crucial to engage the young,
with the written word in everyday life. Because through analyzing and being literate can survive in a world that full
of changes. They can easily acquire to a challenging life. Because being literate is a foundation for being an
independent to the society. Literate people can easily find a good job. Because they can use what they have read to
understand how this life is. Being literate is being teachable with the seniors.

JOURNAL ENTRY
Book open the minds and inspire the heart .Reading is gift for us. It should be done
with a heart, not a duty. Book is like a magic. It creates wild imagination to a reader and
open places that we can never reach. It alike transitioning to the world of fantasy and
escape the reality. Books and doors are the same thing. You open them, and you go through
into another world.
One way to categorize the book is trough book formats. The first one is picture book,
picture book is a book that more on illustration rather that the text. It is a book for children,
due to its more illustration children will easily understand its concept and flow of the story.
Picture is more essential than texts to convey a message. The second one is the easy to read
books, in easy-to-read type means that the book is published using a font or typeface that is
clear and easily read, the vocabulary is restricted, due to its word pattern that are repeated
in the book. The third one is the illustrated books, stories are filled with illustration that
enhance the story line. Illustrations tells the scene what is all about. Graphic novel books is a
combination of text and illustration, for me it is the most important since it has a text and
illustration that the reader can easily understand what is the story all about. It is appealing
to all the students, due to its visual that support the text.
It’s like a complete package. Some readers understand when the visual is presented for them to imagine what
they are reading. Chapter books, a books that divided into chapters that suits for seven years and above. It is
organized book to oppose the picture. Hardcover books it is quite expensive due to its cover and the material is
used is glossy. It is sew due to its high quality of the cover. Paperback books , soft cover, too known as a softcover
or softback, could be a sort of book characterized by a thick paper or paperboard cover, and often held at the side
stick instead of fastens or staples. In differentiate, hardcover or hardback books are bound with cardboard
secured with cloth, plastic or calfskin. The pages on the interior are made of paper. Merchandise books is like
persuasion book that uses more pictures to attract kids it is like a flyer yet it is expensive. Lastly, is the series book
a book that many sequel due to its long and intriguing plot. E-books or electrical books are very relevant today
due you can download it on play store and viola you can read it anywhere and anytime, but some eBooks are for
rent or you can afford it when you have load. There are five elements of fiction the first one plot, plot is a literary
elements that describe the events in the story, and these events are related to each other it is the foundation of
the story. Characters are actors of the story they give life to the story. Setting is the time of the story that takes
place. It is the backdrop of the story. Theme is most important for, because it is the purpose or meaning of the
story. Theme is the core of the story, sometimes it is explicit or implicit but instead is expressed through the
characters’ actions, words, and thoughts. Style is how the author writes their piece of work. In terms of choosing
a right word and even symbolism to attract the readers and more hooked in story.
Book awards is essential. The purpose of elevating and honoring the author masterpiece and acknowledge
their exceptional credibility as writer. It is very important to help the young adult and children choose what books
that can suit to their interest that will help them to set standard in reading. Awards made to authors and
illustrators of children's books, and these awards frequently aid readers in the selection of books.

Poetry
This module under the course English 106, Child and adolescent
gave us an introduction about the course particularly on the
interrelated role of child and adolescent in cultivating different
nature of children’s Literature. It also you a different perspective
on the essence of studying children and adolescent literature and
debunk several misconceptions majority of people have about
children learners.
Poetry is ordinary language raised to the nth power. Poetry is boned with ideas, nerved, and blooded with
emotions, all held together by the delicate, tough skin of words. Poetry is emotion put into measure. Poetry is like a
confession of your experience and love through art. Poetry, literature that evokes a concentrated imaginative awareness
of experience or a specific emotional response through language chosen and arranged for its meaning, sound, and
rhythm.
The essence of poetry is often enigmatic and controversial. Based on their own definitions, authors, readers,
reviewers, and scholars describe poetry. The common term used to refer to poetry, however, is that literature, spoken or
written, emphasizes rhythm, other complex sound and picture patterns, and the many possible ways in which words can
indicate meaning. In selecting what best poem for children here are the techniques on how. First, the ideas and feelings
expressed are authentic, fresh, and imaginative. Meaning the content of the poem is standard and accurate for the
children. Second, the expression of ideas and feelings is unique, meaning content is rare but it is relative and easy to
picture out in minds of children to bring out their wild imagination into the poem. Third, the poem is appropriate to the
experience of children, it is suited to their taste of poem but it’s not like the content is preaching it can be boring for
them. So the relevant content for them that can put their shoe on the poem. Fourth, the poem presents the world
through a child's perspective and focuses on children's lives and activities as well as on activities to which people of all
ages can relate. The content of the poem is for children and the activities are for them to easily understand and can gain
knowledge for it. Fifth, a poetry collection should be the judge on the quality of the poetry choices first and the
illustration. Content over illustration, so there a saying don’t judge the book by its cover. Content matters rather than
the appearance of the book.
Teaching poetry in the classroom is a way for the successful learning process, pupils will be active in
the classroom. Reading poetry aloud in class will be caught the attention of the kids and be attentive to
the teacher. By reading them the poem, students listening and saying poems will be acquired in the class.
That they did not notice that it’s your strategy to hook them up and the foundation on how to introduce
the poetry in class. Some of it try choral poetry for a more productive and creative lesson. Children enjoy
reading a poem aloud to others and soon it can come up to practice writing a poem little by little. To
conclude, poetry is an art that can enjoy by everyone

JOURNAL ENTRY

Literature is the safe and traditional vehicle through which we learn about the world
and pass on values from one generation to the next. Books save lives. Traditional literature is
literature that has no known creator and stories that have been given down orally from one
era to the following, with each storyteller including slight variations. These stories frequently
tell of a culture's traditions, values, and beliefs. These stories incorporate people, fairy, and
tall tales, myths, legends, and fables. They were utilized to instruct children imperative
lessons in life and plan them for society .Traditional literature may be a sort that begun
within the verbal tradition. Myths, tales, legends, society rhymes, folktales, fairy tales, cheat
stories, tall stories, aggregate stories and tales are portion of this sort. Traditional literature is
an art mixed with culture and beliefs of one tribe, one race or one nation.
In selecting what is the best for students it should be done through evaluation of the
community of writers. The first one, the texts is written in the tail that preserved in the
narrative way, writing style must be telling a story to be able to really understand and
attractive to the students. Students love to listen and read if the story is narrating to them.
And orally telling them the story in sequence. Second, every story and poems should
portrays the culture accurately and teaches students appreciation and a form from different
countries. By doing such thing for the sake of students it will benefit more to expand their
imagination on the story that being told. Third , the text and pictures should be accurate,
display of connection between stories and figures inside and outside the book will help the
students to visualize the story that they are reading. The amount of text written in the table
and the attention span of the students should be prioritized. The accurate the information is
being shared the accurate the knowledge can be gain in reading a traditional literature. Ways
and strategies on how to educate traditional literature within the classroom which included
framework of instruction, modeling, and agreeable learning are different ways of instructing
within the classroom in which students had a benefit to select, self-initiated, reading and
composing story.
Storytelling is one compelling way of filtering within the classroom it produces between
instructors and understudies, it brings the substance of the story learning lively and makes
immersive encounter for the understudy for them to be information to appreciate mending
distinctive conventional writing that leads them to in creative ability. Receive diverse
information and apply to themselves the ethical lesson they have adapt.
Traditional Literature has biggest role for students or young learners simply knowing the
importance of different types of literature will help them to have vivid knowledge about the
stories and culture that they are reading. Parents and second parent like teachers may apply
their vocabulary talents for their children and students of extra effort to utter different
knowledge about the book they are reading. Writing, reading silently or aloud will set as a
training ground for them to be able to acquire different knowledge. It been said that the
more you read, the more things you will know. The more places you will go.

JOURNAL ENTRY

Modern Fantasy is recognized from other sorts by story components that violate the common, physical laws of
our world. Stories in this class incorporate such components as talking creatures, nonexistent universes, whimsical
characters, and enchanted creatures. Creators of present-day daydream don't simply make up a fanciful story. They
must make a setting with a modern set of physical laws, believable characters, and a valid plot. These stories ought to
welcome the peruse to look at issues of the human condition and accept that such world might truly exist. Modern
fantasy is one of the most loved to read books of the younger generation. It unravels the greatest imagination of the
young minds. It reveals for those who believe in creative mind of the author perhaps also the reader.
Choosing quality standards for the students is really vital as an educator. Being an educator, I want what is the
best for my students. These standard helps the young one’s mind to more in-depth in what genre what will fill their
desire in reading a fantasy book. But fantasy has a special evaluation criterion as well, centering on the elements of
fantasy and how the author uses them. The fantastic elements be they characters or setting, must be believable and the
central to the core of the story. It is critical that the reader believes in fantasy and can understand and enjoy
. So, I recommend those authors that having an award-winning masterpiece. It’s a
great start in choosing what is the best for the students. Setting standard is not bad. It is a
goal that we can achieved. Those author like J. K Rowling’s Harry Potter, Lord of the
Rings franchise or TV series like Game of Thrones to their fantasy novel origins,
seeking out new authors after devouring J.R.R. Tolkien and G.R.R. Martin’s books.
This standard shows that reader must believe in what they read for them to get the
gist and to connect in the story.
For me as a future educator I will teach modern fantasy by means of video
presentation and also, I will use myself as the accompaniment for the betterment
of our class. I want my students to love reading different genre’s, and also, I want
them to learn from me the things that I didn’t learn from my teacher. Learning is a
continuous process you must open your mind and eyes to learn what is beyond.

JOURNAL ENTRY

Realistic fiction is a genre consisting of stories in a realistic setting

that may have possibly happened to people or animals. These stories
imitate real life, and fictional characters respond similarly to real
people within these stories. Stories categorized as realistic fiction have
plots that emphasize social or personal events or problems that
represent current life, such as falling in love, marriage, finding a job,
divorce, alcoholism, etc. Characteristics of realistic fiction which include
in the present or recent past, plausible tales of fiction appear to take
place. Characters are interested in incidents which might occur. In
locations that may be or are actual, characters live. The characters
appear like actual individuals with real problems solved in a rational
manner. The events described in realistic fiction conjure up concerns
that a reader would face in daily life
In selecting and evaluating what’s appropriate to students in reading realistic fiction
we must consider the literary element of the fiction that can help the students to gain new
knowledge and new perspective in reading. The themes is very vital in reading a book the
moral lesson that we can get marked in the mind of the students. The more the lesson that
can gain the more they will be aware of their surroundings, theme helps them to realize
what is good and bad for them. Of course, it must also believable and the events are
possible to happen. And the last one that is also important is the content and the writing
style of the author. The author must be creative in using the words for more excitement
and mystery when reading it. Book awards also help in setting the standard to what books
is suits and best for the students.
To teach realistic fiction in the classroom teacher must be active. First let the students
enjoy what they are reading. Second, give an activity that identify the literary elements of
fiction for them to be excited and active in the class. After giving an activity involved
yourself to them. Relate the story and have fun in teaching realistic fiction. Because if the
students see that you, used yourself as an example they will be more hooked on what are
you sharing to them. The most important technique is that love what you are doing.
