WHAT ARE COMPUTER GAMES

 A computer game is a computer-controlled game where


players interact with objects displayed on a screen for the
sake of entertainment.
 A video game is essentially the same form of entertainment,
but refers not only to games played on a personal computer,
but also to games run by a console or arcade machine.
 The term "computer game" also includes games which
display only text or which use other methods, such as sound
or vibration, as their primary feedback device, or a
controller (console games), or a combination of any of the
above.
HISTORY OF COMPUTER GAMES

Bertie the Brain (1950) - The earliest known Spacewar! (1952) - Considered one of the first
publicly demonstrated electronic game recognized video games
The first generation of computer games were often text-based adventures or interactive
fiction, in which the player communicated with the computer by entering commands through
a keyboard.

By the 1980s, personal computers had become powerful enough to run
games like Adventure, but by this time, graphics were beginning to become
an important factor in games.

Action games emphasize physical challenges that require hand-eye coordination and motor skill to
overcome. They center around the player, who is in control of most of the action. Most of the earliest
video games were considered action games; today, it is still a vast genre covering all games that involve
physical challenges.

styles, waste of time and economic resources and violent, aggressive and antisocial
behavior and they have been seen as negatively affecting the players in terms of lack of
social skills, inefficiency, obesity and laziness.
• Another view is that it provides relaxation and skills while digital game-based learning
enhances student engagement. Such as involves in problem solving planning, estimation
and analysis of the moves or actions of opponent. This affects the player positively by
developing in him/her problem-solving skills, analytical and estimation skills and quick
decision-making.
