Introduction

Some software companies sell their software


with a confidential text, called the key of that
software. This key is provided to only those
people who buy that software. In this way
illegal copies are stopped to be installed.
Some people start searching for that key by
using illegal means, which is known as Piracy.
Software piracy is the illegal copying,
distribution or use of software.
It is unauthorized duplication of copyrighted
content.
Types Of Software Piracy

Soft-lifting:
Borrowing and installing a copy
of a software application from a
colleague.
This happens when a user
shares a single license with
others. It is about taking product
key in an illegal way or cracking
of product key.
Client-server Overuse:
Installing more copies of the
software than you have
license for is called the client-
server overuse piracy.
It occurs when a software is
installed on the server for
the simultaneous use by
several people over the
network. Simply, it is about
having more users than the
number of users allowed by
the license.
Hard-disk Loading:
Next software piracy is
hard-disk loading. It usually
occurs in case of business.
This is loading a hard copy
of a software program onto
a new computer to attract I have added office

buy now
They try to make the
purchase of their machines
well looking.
Counterfeiting:
When illegal copies of a software are distributed in
packaging that replicates the original manufacturer’s
packaging.

 Looks like authentic

The intention is to directly imitate the copyrighted


product. This is more serious offense as it is done
in an organized manner and buyer is made to
believe that he/she is buying genuine product.
Online Piracy:

Online Piracy is the unauthorized downloading of a


software over the internet. Many pirate websites on
the internet make software available as free
download. These websites provide unlimited
downloads to any user.
Email, social accounts and news groups are the
tools which facilitate the illegal uploading or
downloading of copyrighted software program over
the internet.
Effects:
 Security loss
 Increase chances that software will
malfunction or fail.
 No warranty and software can not be
updated.
 Increase risk of infecting your PC with
virus.
