Coordinating conjunctions
are used to connect words,
phrases or clauses of equal
value.
WORD, PHRASE AND CLAUSE

• Word- a unit of language, consisting of one or more spoken


sounds or their written representation, that functions as a
principal carrier of meaning.
Example: He builds miniature models of cars and trains.

• Phrase- is a small group of words that forms a meaningful unit


within a clause.
Example: He likes building car models and trading toy
trains.

• Clause- It expresses a complete thought (basically a sentence)


Example: He started building car models when he was 11
years old and he now has hundreds of miniature cars on
display.

FOR- to introduce a reason.


Example: The customer was annoyed
for the saleslady was snobbish.
