ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS
Architectural drawings are the technical representation of a building that is made prior to the
beginning of the construction process.

Different types of architectural drawings include:

• Perspective
• Location Map
• Site Development Plan
• Floor Plan
• Elevation
• Section
• Schedule of Doors & Windows
GENERAL NOTES
The general note does not have any drawings.
It contains detailed information about the
buildings. This includes the by-laws, codes, length,
mapping forms, construction type, legends,
abbreviations, and everything else that is essential.
PERSPECTIVE
Architectural perspective’, or quadratura, we are referring to the set of perspective
constructions realised on wall and ceiling surfaces to simulate diverse spaces

ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE

A drawing has one-point perspective when it contains only one
vanishing point on the horizon line
TWO-POINT PERSPECTIVE
A drawing has two-point
perspective when it contains two
vanishing points on the horizon
line.
THREE-POINT PERSPECTIVE
Three-point perspective is often
used for buildings seen from above
(or below).
MULTI-POINT PERSPECTIVE
it is the case when there are more than two primary vanishing points
on the horizon line.
LOCATION/ VICINITY MAP
A VICINITY OR
LOCATION MAP
showing the site of
the proposed
activity. The site
must be clearly
marked and shown
in relation to the
nearest major
roads, cities, and
waterways in the
area.
SITE DEVELOPMENT PLAN
is an aerial view of the construction site that includes the primary building and its
adjoining constructions. Among its wide applications, we can include construction
drawings for building improvement, understanding the scope of construction activities
FLOOR PLAN
A floor plan is a type of drawing that shows you the layout of a home or property
from above. Floor plans typically illustrate the location of walls, windows, doors,
and stairs, as well as fixed installations such as bathroom fixtures, kitchen
cabinetry, and appliances.
ELEVATION
An elevation drawing is an orthographic projection drawing that shows one
side of the house. It indicates the height of the building, the external and
internal marking which includes the doors and sizes of the windows too.
SECTION
show the structure in a sliced form. This kind of construction drawing helps identify the primary
structures in relation to other surrounding structures of the building. Further, section drawings
also provide information for the types of materials to be used in the construction.
SCHEDULE OF DOORS & WINDOWS
Window and door schedules are a convenient way of presenting complex
information about the different door and window sizes and types that are specified
on the contract documents to ensure proper installation.
STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS
Structural Drawings are also called engineering drawings and they focus on the
structural aspect of the building. These drawings are included in the proposal
documents and act as a guide for the workforce.

Different types of structural drawings include:

• Foundation Plan
• Foundation & Beam Details
• Floor Framing Plan
• Roof Framing Plan & Detail
• Truss Details
FOUNDATION
PLAN
The foundation plan is
where you will find all
of the critical
information for the
structural support
features. This is to
determine what type
and what width of
foundation wall is to be
used, as well as locate
and determine the size
of the footings.
FOUNDATION DETAILS
BEAM DETAIL
ROOF FRAMING PLAN
Roof framing simply describes how a group of rafters and beams are fitted or
joined together in order to provide support for the roof covering.
TRUSS DETAILS
A truss is a structure that consists of members organised into connected triangles so
that the overall assembly behaves as a single object. Trusses are most commonly
used in bridges, roofs and towers.
