Animation Software Tools

Animation software tools help create motion from inanimate objects and add effects to simple animations. Key features include tweening to seamlessly integrate frames, rotoscoping to trace objects, motion capture to record real movements, visual effects (VFX) manipulation, and simulation for testing animations. Main types are 2D using 2D space, 3D using 3 dimensions, stop motion using real objects in real time, claymation using clay figures, and cel/paint-on-glass animation manipulating drawings or paint on sheets. Popular free software includes Blender and Synfig Studio while paid options include Toon Boom Harmony and Moho.

ANIMATION SOFTWARE TOOLS

- is a tool that helps create motion from

inanimate objects.

- can add multiple effects and additional

substance along with simple animation.

- a must for all movie and gaming studios

nowadays.
Features of an Animation Software Tools:

1. Tweening

- is a process which integrates one

frame to another frame seamlessly in
any animation process.
2. Rotoscoping

- is the process of tracing objects

on an existing motion picture or
on a sequence of frames.
3. Motion Capture

- is a very popular feature of animation

these days.
- It is a process where the real
movements of people or other living
creatures are captured and those
movements are traced upon characters

in the animation.
4. VFX- VFX or visual effects

- are manipulations of real-life footage

using outside features and objects.
- things which are very time consuming,
dangerous and impractical can be
created with the help of VFX
5. Simulation

- is basically a draft or a model which

predicts how the process will turn out.

- a very important part of the animation

process as it helps map and identify

the needs and rectifications in your
animated feature.
Types of Animation

1. 2D Animation

- is the type of animation that is created

within a two-dimensional artistic space.
- consists of movement restricted to vertical
and horizontal gradients only.
- is majorly used in cartoon and anime
creation these days along with motion
sketches and low detail visuals.
2. 3D Animation

- is a form of animation that is created

within a three-dimensional artistic space.
- the object created can move on 3
gradients using three-dimensional
animations.
- involves various processes such as
tweening, rotoscoping, and modelling.
3. Stop Motion Animation

- is a very unique form of animation where

real inanimate objects are made to come to
life using real movements in real time.
- varieties of objects are used such as action
figures, hand-cut figures and 3D printed
objects as well.
- the production process is very time and
resource draining.
4. Claymation

- is a subset of stop motion animation. It

strictly involves the use of clay figures and
objects to be animated.
- very hectic and resource consuming.
- extremely popular among children.
5. Cel Animation

- is a distinct form of animation through which

draft drawings are drawn on plastic sheets
called ‘cels’.
- was very popular during the 80s and the
90s, mainly used to create primetime
cartoons.
6. Paint-On-Glass Animation

- is a technique of animation where oil paints

are manipulated on sheets of glass to
create an illusion of movement.
- extremely tedious and artistic form of
animation which can be done by a rare few.
- the animation process is hectic and difficult
to execute
