Evaluating Basic Research Proposal and Completed Basic Research Template

The document outlines a proposed basic research study that aims to examine classroom teachers' experiences delivering lessons using the results-based performance management system classroom observation tool. The study will use qualitative phenomenological methods, collecting data through interviews with 7 teachers to understand common issues, coping mechanisms, and school heads' insights regarding lesson delivery. The proposal describes the research questions, participants, data collection through interviews, ethical considerations of confidentiality, and data analysis plan using NVivo software to code themes in the interview transcripts.

Introduction
Rationale
In the different schools , classroom observation is very much significant in
delivering the lessons of the teachers as part of evaluating the teachers performance. That
is why, the school head must conduct a regular classroom observation to orient and guide
the teachers on how to improve their teaching strategies on the daily basis( Kalib, 2006).
In our school , I regularly conducted classroom observations. Before I made it, I
usually announce the schedule and call for pre- observation conference to all teachers to
re-orient them with the indicators stipulated in the template the result based performance
management system classroom observation tool and explain the provisions in the rubrics
utilized in rating teachers teaching performance. Unfortunately, in my actual classroom
observations there are still some teachers who were not able to apply

some indicators during the delivery of the lessons. One teacher said to me that she forgot
some indicators because her focus is on the facilitation of different activities and assessment
to learners . Presently, this situation is happening in some of my classes' observations.
As a instructional leader, I strongly believed that proper classroom instruction of teacher
will promote better learning outcome. It is necessary to examine and monitor the delivery of
instruction in the classroom to have life long learning among learners. The teachers need to
adopt different strategies that are fit to the learning style of pupils. They also need to realize
that there is only the job of teacher to deliver the competency of every lesson but also set to
it they should deliver the quality instruction intended for the learners.

Research Questions

The purpose of this phenomenological qualitative study is to explore the experiences of

the classroom teachers on the delivery of instruction as the result based performance
management system classroom observation tool. This study will attempt to answer the
following questions :
1. What are the common issues and problems encountered by the teacher during the
delivery of instruction ?
2. What are the coping mechanisms of the classroom teachers during delivery of
instruction?
2. What are the insights of the school heads in the delivery of lessons?

Methods

In this portion, I will present the methods and processes by which the researcher used in
conducting the investigation such as research design, research participants, Data Collection
Procedure , Ethical Issues and the Data Analysis
Research Design
The study employed qualitative- phenomenological type of research that allows the
researcher to gather informations based on the experiences of the participants(Smith 2003).
This qualitative study came up with a discription on how the classroom teachers
experienced the delivery of the lesson. This aims to measure and analyze the data
particularly the lived experiences of the classroom teachers during the conduct of delivery
instruction together with result based performance management systems.

Research Participants
The participants of the study will be coming from the 7 teachers who are presently
assigned at Concepcion Elementary School and Mapa Elementary School . The purposive
sampling will be employed among the respondents to gather and retrieved information
throughout the process. This sampling technique is appropriate for qualitative research
study.
Data Collection
Interview guide will be us to collect and elicit information from the in depth interviews
on teachers reagarding the issues and problems on the delivery of lessons . I will interview
teachers to gather information from them. This data collection technique will be supported
byt the idea of Walberg(2006).who stated that the chief data collection device for a
qualitative study is using interview guide. He suggested that qualitative researcher is
advised tokeep fairly detailed records of his/her thought , feelings and behaviors while the
data are collected to avoid bias.

Ethical Issues
I believed that ethics is a major core component in research study, qualitative in
particular , I took into account in selecting teachers by ensuring as far as possible that their
anonimity is protected by means of not using their real names. I will assure the participants
that the principles of privacy and confidentiality must be observed and I informed the
teachers that the data collected from them will be handle with professional confidence.
Data Analysis
After the data will be collected, I will sort , code and categorize them from variant to
general using content analysis. The in depth interview will be creating a substantial volume
of raw data. The process of sorting and determining themes within the documents will be
complicated. A software program designed for qualitative data analysis called NVIVO will
be used. Richard(2002) stated that NVIVO is software used for importing the text and
coding the themes within, which it calls 'nodes'. I will determine the coding headings and
assign each segment of text to a particular category. The clarity of themes emerged during
the analysis of the data and the patterns will be compare and contrast to see similarities and
differences.
