LEGAL, ACCESSIBLE, AND
AFFORDABLE, SHALL BE GIVEN
PRIMACY TO ENSURE THE HEALTH OF
THE MOTHER AND CHILD.
2. RESPECT FOR LIFE
THE ACT RECOGNIZES
THAT ABORTION IS
ILLEGAL AND
PUNISHABLE BY LAW.
3. BIRTH CONTROL
REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE,
INFORMATION, AND SUPPLIES SHALL BE
MADE AVAILABE MOST ESPECIALLY TO
POOR BENEFICIARIES. THE ACT
PROVISIONS ALSO THAT THE
GOVERNMENT MUST RESPECT THE
CITIZEN’S INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCES AND
CHOICES OF FAMILY PLANNING METHOD.

Refers to methods and
devices used to prevent
or delay pregnancy.
TYPES OF
CONTRACEPTI

1. ABSTINENCE
Abstinence means not
having any form of sex –
vaginal, anal or oral, at any
time.
2. WITHDRAWAL METHOD
Also known as the “Pull Out
Method”.
It involves the removing of penis
from the vagina before
ejaculation, or cumming.
3. CONDOM
Made up of thin
latex or plastic.
4. FERTILITY AWARENESS
BASED METHODS
Also know as “Natural Family
Planning” or “Rhythm Method”.
It includes calendar/rhythm method,
the standard days method, the body
temperature method, and the cervical
mucus method.
5. BREASTFEEDING AS
CONTRACEPTION
Also known as LACTATIONAL
AMENORRHEA METHOD.
This method is effective for up to
six months after giving birth.
6. ORAL CONTRACEPTIVE
PILLS
Made of hormones
It should be taken daily to
prevent or delay pregnancy.
7. CONTRACEPTIVE PATCH
Also know by its brand name Ortho Evra.
It is a thin plastic patch that sticks to the
skin.
Can be placed on the upper body, outer
arm, lower abdomen and buttocks.
8. CONTRACEPTIVE
SHOT/INJECTION
Also called Depo Provera.
Injections of hormones is
given in the buttocks or
arms every 3 months.
9. IMPLANTS
Common brand names are Implanon and
Nexplanon.
They are matchstick-sized, flexible plastics
inserted under the skin of the upper arm.
Implants are effective for up to 3 years.
10. INTRAUTERINE
DEVICE (IUD’S)
They are small, flexible, T-shaped devices
inserted into the uterus by a health provider.
It affects the movement of sperm,
preventing fertilization and pregnancy.
It can last up to 5 to 10 years.
2 TYPES OF IUD
1. Copper IUD (ParaGard) – releases
small amount of copper into the uterus
2. Hormonal IUD (Mirena or
Skyla) – releases hormone into the uterus
11. STERILIZATION
Also know as Female Tubal Ligation.
It is a permanent method of contraception.
It is for women who do not want more children.
It involves blocking of the fallopian tubes.
This can be done surgically by cutting, tying, or
sealing the fallopian tubes

PILLAR.
