Foot Protection

Foot protection is important for workers to prevent injuries from falling or rolling objects, sharp objects, molten metal, hot surfaces, and wet slippery surfaces. Proper footwear and safety shoes are necessary to protect workers' feet. Factors like long periods of standing, hard flooring, poorly fitted shoes, hot and humid environments can cause foot problems like blisters, calluses, and infections. Job and workplace design changes like allowing workers to sit or stand, adjustable work surfaces, foot rails, and anti-fatigue mats can improve foot safety and comfort. Protective footwear should be selected based on the hazards, fitted properly, and replaced when worn.

How Can the Job Design Improve
Foot Safety ?
 Aching, flat or tired feet are common
among workers who spend most of their
working time standing.

 The most important goal of job design is to

avoid fixed positions especially fixed
standing positions.
How Can the Job Design Improve
Foot Safety ?
 Job rotation moves workers from one job to
another
 Job enlargement includes more and
different tasks in a workers duties
 Rest breaks, frequent short breaks are
preferable to fewer long breaks
How Can the Workplace Design
Improve Foot Safety ?
