Lesson 2 - Models of Communication

The document summarizes four models of communication: Aristotle's model, the Shannon-Weaver model, Schramm's model, and White's model. Aristotle's model emphasizes the setting that dictates the message. The Shannon-Weaver model introduced the concept of "noise" and is often called the telephone model. Schramm's model requires an overlap in the speaker and listener's fields of experience. White's model depicts communication as circular and continuous without beginning or end, and introduced the concept of feedback.
