SITE PLANNING

Site Planning is the organization of the external


physical environment to accommodate human
behavior.

Site planning is the organization of an area of land to fit a


program for its development which is efficient, expresses the
character of the site and provides attractive spaces to use.
Need and Objectives
1. A design which is site specific and responds to the
unique conditions of each place.
2. Development which integrates into and harmonizes
with the existing landscape
3. Outdoor space which respond to orientation, views
and microclimate.
4. The use of sustainable materials and indigenous
vegetation.
SITE PLANNING
There are two methods of establishing a SITE:
1. SITE SELECTION PROCESS
This process selects from a list of potential sites one
that suits best the given use and requirements of the
project.
2. DEVELOPMENT SUITABILITY PROCESS
This process selects the best possible use and
development suited for a given site.
SCOPE OF WORK
1. Selecting and analyzing sites
2. Forming land use plans
3. Organizing vehicular and pedestrian circulation
4. Designing visual forms and material concepts
5. Readjusting the existing landforms by design grading
6. Provide proper drainage
7. Developing the construction detail necessary to carry
out the project
SITE ELEMENTS
Slope Pattern
0-5% Generally flat, highly buildable (1:20)
5-10% Gently rolling, moderately buildable (1:10)
10-15% Gentle to mild slopes, moderately difficult
terrain (1:6.5)
15-20% mild to steep slope, difficult terrain (1:5)
20% - above Harsh, steep slopes unbuildable

the list of the information which is to be added
to the diagram.
