What is LTE…??

with the European Telecommunications Standards
Institute
LTE was introduced after the outcome of GSM/EDGE and
UMTS/HSPA network technologies
It is marketed as 4G but as it is not fulfilling the IMT
advanced 4G (4th generation) requirements it is said to be
3.9G Technology.
It is not backwards compatible with 3G systems but LTE
advanced is compatible and hence uses the same
frequency bands

Downlink peak data rates up to 326 Mbps with 20
MHz bandwidth
Uplink peak data rates up to 86.4 Mbps with 20 MHz
bandwidth
Operation in both TDD and FDD modes
Reduced latency, up to 10 milliseconds (ms) round-
