Photography involves using light to produce visible images on a light-sensitive material. The word comes from the Greek words "photo" meaning light and "graphy" meaning to draw. Photography works by having light from a subject enter a camera and expose a light-sensitive material. After exposure, chemical processing makes the light's effect visible as an image. The key principles involve using a camera to regulate light, films or other materials to record the light, and development to make the recorded image visible.

Principles
of Photography z z PHOTOGRAPHY, ITS MEANING
Photography was derived from Greek words, photo which
means light and grapho that means to draw.
The production of a permanent record of an image by the
combined action of light and chemical processing. z PHOTOGRAPHY, ITS CONCEPT
Photography is the production of visible images by using the
action of light on a sensitized material. The word photography was derived from two Greek terms PHOTO which means light and GRAPHY which means to write. Thus, literally, photography means to draw with light. z PHOTOGRAPHY, ITS PRINCIPLE
A photograph is a mechanical result of photography. To produce a
photograph, light is needed aside from sensitized material (films and photographic papers). Light radiated or reflected by the subject must reach the sensitized material while all other lights must be excluded. The exclusion of all other lights is achieved by placing the sensitized material inside a light tight box. The light maybe visible or invisible.
The effect of light on the sensitized material is not visible in the
formation of images of objects. The effect could be made visible with the aid of chemical processing of the exposed sensitized material called development z Principle involved in Photography
In photography, the light writes when it strikes minute crystals of
light sensitive surfaces (films and photographic papers), a mechanical device (camera) and chemical processing (film development and printing). As a process, photography is the method of using light to produce identical image of an object that can be preserved permanently by employing:
1. camera: camera use to regulate, absorb and filter light.
2. film and any sensitized material to record light.
