Grouting Works: Dfcu - HRRL Project, Rajasthan

This document provides specifications for grouting works on the DFCU-HRRL project in Rajasthan. It outlines three types of grout - cement-sand grout, non-shrink cementitious grout, and epoxy grout. For each grout type, it specifies materials, properties, surface preparation, formwork, mixing, placement, curing, and testing requirements. Cube samples will be made and tested according to ASTM standards to ensure the compressive strength of the installed grouts meet the project requirements.

• Min. Density – 2000 Kg/m3
SURFACE PREPARATION & FORMWORK

• Substrate shall be clean, free from oils or any foreign matter.

• Saturate the concrete surface as per grout manufacturer recommendation.
• Epoxy grout surface shall be dry.
• Clean the area by compressed air.
• Interdisciplinary clearance shall be acquired before proceeding with grouting
• Formwork shall be water tight to avoid any leak of grout.
• Grout thickness shall be min 50mm for equipment and Min 30mm for other foundation &
structures unless otherwise specified in drawings.
GROUTING

• Ambient temperature shall not exceed 400C.

• Non-Shrink / Cement Sand Grout - Appropriate water quantity shall be measure and grout shall be
added to this water and mixed for 5 minutes to obtain even consistency.
• Epoxy Grout – Entire hardener shall be added to base container and mixed for 2 -3 minutes as per grout
manufacturer recommendation.
• No remixing of stiff grout or adding more water against manufacturer recommendation is not permitted.
• Tap the forms with mallet to expel any entrapped air.
• Curing shall be done for 7 days minimum.
SAMPLING & TESTING

• Ambient temperature shall not exceed 400C.

• Six (6) cubes 50 x 50 x 50 shall be made from each shift / day / type of grouting.
• Non-shrink grout – 3 cubes for 7 days & 3 cubes for 28 days Compressive strength
• Epoxy Grout – 3 cubes for 3 day and 3 cubes for 7 days Compressive Strength
CUBE SAMPLING & TESTING AS PER ASTM C109

• Cube shall be 50 mm x 50mm x 50mm.

• Tamper of cross section 13 mm x 25 mm & length 120 mm to 150 mm.
• Fill the mould in two (2) layers each 25mm. each layer shall be compacted to 32 strokes
with tamper.
• Tamp the mortar in each cube compartment 32 times in about 10 s in 4 rounds, each round
to be at right angles to the other and consisting of eight adjoining strokes over the surface of
the specimen, as illustrated in Fig.
• Rate of loading is 900 -1800 N/s
• Compressive strength is calculated as maximum load divided by cross section area of cube.
• The maximum permissible range between specimens from the same batch, at the same test
age is 8.7 % of the average of three specimens.
CUBE SAMPLING & TESTING AS PER ASTM C579

• Cube shall be 50 mm x 50mm x 50mm.

• Fill the mould in two (2) layers.
• Remove any entrapped air by using a cutting and stabbing motion with a spatula or rounded-end
rod
• Rate of loading is 41 MPa / Min.
• Compressive strength is calculated as maximum load divided by cross section area of cube.
• Average of three specimens shall be recorded and individual reading shall not vary more than 15
% of the average.
